Update: After almost an year-long wikiholiday, I am back again. Taking a wikiholiday was not a conscious decision at start, It just happened starting with a 15-days-long family trip to Europe. It just felt like a lot of negative things were happening around the world (personally the Russian invasion of Ukraine) for me to be able to work at full energy on Wikipedia.

I stand in solidarity with Ukraine and Ukrainian people and oppose Russian invasion (assualt?) of Ukraine. Russia has carried out a brutal, unprovoked and premeditated attack against a peaceful state and its people.

I am an English bureaucrat currently based in Trivandrum, India. I have also spent significant time in other parts of India: Mumbai, Noida, Srinagar, Dharamshala, Chennai and Kolkata.

I was born in United Kingdom, but spent my childhood and teenage years in Netherlands and Germany. I have a PhD degree in Environment Science, a post-graduate degree in philosophy and information science. I can speak and write English and French. I can fairly understand, to some level, Hindi and Marathi language.

I explore articles related to education and teaching sphere in Wikipedia, and usually make edit to them only. However, I sometime also love exploring new science, technology and future-related articles.

My approach

edit

I think humans should create and preserve knowledge, as we are the only known species of doing it with proficiently. So, I focus on creating articles. Once an article is in place as draft/stub/article, it should invariably be develop into a good article.

Potential issues with Indian Wikipedia, I strive to improve.

edit
  1. Most of India-related Wikipedia articles lack structure, flow and sourcing of information.
  2. Most of 'India' is yet not on Wikipedia.

What I am on Wikipedia?

edit

I am an Inclusionist (as they call it). It means, I believe in making Wikipedia a comprehensive online space covering wide scope of information and knowledge. But, it does not means that I would include any cr*p into Wikipedia.

What I do on Wikipedia?

edit

I love reading, and hence, I read stuff here as well. I spend most of my time on Wikipedia just reading and navigating through the seemingly never-ending maze of articles, correcting errors, typos, grammar issues on the run. They call such a behavior similar to that of a WikiGenome. I guess, I am one too.

My observations on Wikipedia?

edit

Note: This is my personal observation about Wikipedia that, I believe, is as neutral and non-biased as possible. Please don't bother to read it if you are not willing to accept it as a fair observation. I do know, that I am very young Wikipedian compared to the age of Wikipedia itself, and my observations might not reflect the actual case and scenarios on the Wikipedia, at large. My observation are based and are limited to the about only 5% to 10% of the Wikipedia that I have read over a decade or so.

Update: I have halted the creation due to some personal reasons.
