My name is Ashlee Addison. I like to think of myself as a "Jack of All Trades". I'm the the best of every world, and by every world I mean that I am a beautiful and an intelligent young lady. I love to venture out try new things, and lastly but certainly not least give my absolute BEST at everything. I strive for excellence. My determination, motivation, and persona keeps me energized and makes the amazing young woman I am today. As Maya Angelou would say "I am a phenomenal woman, PHENOMENALLY!"
Quote of The Day
Don't gain the world, and loose your soul. Wisdom and knowledge is better than silver or gold.
I'm a college freshman at Georgia Southern University with a major in Pre-Nursing, and minor in Health Education. God is first and foremost in my life. I absolutely love my family and close friend, they are indeed my rock through the hardest of time. I am currently dating my best friend, and I must say he is an AMAZING gentleman. Gentlemen are very hard to find these days. =) But I've found a wonderful one whom I consider a blessing from God. My family are great people, very supportive, loving, caing, and know how to have fun. I hope to be an Physician Assistant in OB-GYN in the near future. I attended Cross Creek High School of Richmond County in Augusta, Georgia. The awards that I have recieved are the Augusta State University Highest Academic Achievement, University of Georgia Certificate of Merit Recipent, Augusta State University National African American Scholar Award, Outstandng Achievement in AP Biology, as well as Outstanding Achievement in Language Arts, and Social Sciences. I graduated in the top five percent of my high school class. Additionally, I served as the Yearbook Editor in Chief, captain of the varsity cheerleading team, secretary of National Honor Society, and a member of other various groups such as Future Business Leaders of America, Positivity Inc. (a community based sorority), and Sophisticated Cats Dance Team. Adjusting to college life, and growing up has been one of the hardest things I've had to face but I believe I can make it through. I love Georgia Southern University, and all the oppourtunities I have there. I strive high, and work harder to get the best grades possible, and truly make my college experience a very successful one. I hope to have a 4.0 GPA at the end of my first college semester, and so far I'm very close to my goal. By having a high GPA, my chances will increase for me to get into the GSU Nursing Program. Getting into the GSU Nursing Program is another goal of mines, and I hope to accomplish it by the end of my sophmore year.
NURSING! There's nothing more exciting to me than my intended field of studying...Nursing. I love the field and everything that surrounds it. At first, I wanted to attend college for Biology/Pre-Med, but I realized I honestly did not want to go to college the amount of time it takes to become a doctor. Instead, I opted for nursing. As I got to Georgia Southern, and recieved a first hand experience of what nursing is like, I began to love it. For my First Year Experience Nursing class, I was required to shadow a nursing professor at a hospital, to see how clinicals went and what I'd be doing as a nursing student. It was at my shadowing experience that I realized nursing was the career path for me.
FASHION! Dressing to impress is a must for me. I have won "Best Dressed" every year since I was in the eight grade, but hey what can I say, looking sexy just comes natural for me. I love to look nice. I'm one of those people who believe "when you look good, you feel good." I have my own style which I classify as preppy. I'm a real girly girl so I love to wear heels, skirts, nice dressy shirts, and clothing of that sort.
CHEERLEADING! I have been the captain of my middle school cheerleading team, and my high school varsity cheerleading team. Cheerleading runs through my family and my bones. It keeps in me in shape, healthy, and fit! I love the long hours of practice, the games, and just the overall essence of being a cheerleader. My facorite season in cheerleading is basketball season. Although the games are longer than football games, the intensity of basketball and level of school spirit is exciting.
DANCE && STEPPING! Yes I can dance and step my butt off. I stepped my first two years of high school, all of middle school, and even some in elemetary school. I've been on countless step teams. Stepping and dancing allow me to release the bad girl inside of me. The first team I ever tried out for in elementary school was Whelees Road Step Team. I did not make that step team, so I vowed to myself that whatever I wanted to do at any school I'd put my mind to it and do it. Ever since than, I have made every team or organization that I've tried out for.
I choose to create the second article because it related to my first one. My first article, The Negro Digest, was taken over by Hoyt W. Fuller, therefore I wrote an article about him as well. In addition, I have contributed to the following articles on Wikipedia:
Zane (erotica author) (contributed to the discussion, as well as added book information)
Cross Creek High School (added the list of organizations and brief description as to what their about)
Although I have only made these contributions to Wikipedia for my English 1101 class, I will continue to contribute more to Wikipedia in the future.
Technology, something the US and almost every culture and society has learned not to live without. I am almost 100 percent sure technology has truly advanced this world as we know it today. Without the countless new inventions being created, society would definitely not evolve as highly or fastly as it does. As a teenager I am literally compelled to stay up with the newly innovated technology. From touch screen cellphones with the new Android syestem, to new Ipad computers, I would have to say my relationship to technology is an extremely close one. I love getting the latest technology. Although, I must admit, sometimes the latest technology does not always work well. For instance, the Android syestem installd within most smartphones now, is a HORRIBLE syestem. If you're looking for a smartphone, I suggest a Blackberry. Smartphones with an Android syestem have bad battery life, and frequently tend to cut off for no apparent reason. I personally have developed a theory and think that because the Android syestems allow phone do complete various task such as the internet and other high tech functions, this makes the battery life less efficent.
To put it simple, I feel Wikipedia is a great resource but honestly Wikiepdia is not something frequently used in the education of english. For 12 years of school children are taught NOT to use Wikiepdia, and I'm almost positive in English 2 or 1 for that matter MANY professors definitely do not want college students using this website as a reference for any paper.
Wikiepdia is great for quick research. If someone is discussing a topic a person maybe unfamiliar with, I think Wikiepdia would be that website where you go, type in the topic, and get more informed. It's a great way for you to be boost your writing skills, since the website does not accept pledgerism, and get it criticed by others who are well advanced in english and grammer.
My first language is English, however I do speak some Spanish. Funny thing is, I took Spanish for FOUR LONG HIGH SCHOOL YEARS OF MY LIFE, and only two of those years I actually learned spanish while I attended high school in Pensacola, Florida. However, when I moved back to my hometown of Augusta, Georgia; taking Spanish 3 and Advanced Placement College Spanish 4 we were not the language itself at all. Moreso, we were taught it's art, culture, and history.
