Move proposal
editI propose to move this page to a more accurate title, at Guitar Zamurai. Guitar Samurai and Yoku Hata will both serve as redirects. The former is an English interpretation of his Japanese name, and the second is much less well known than his stage name, thus I propose a moveal. I will wait a few days. freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 05:13, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
I disagree. He has been using the name "Yoku Hata" more often recently. He is usually introduced as such on television. It is his primary name, even if it isn't the most well known.
While I'm being disagreeable, I'd also dispute that "Guitar Zamurai" is a more accurate transliteration than "Guitar Samurai". When written in Japanese, it is simply a concatenation of the two words 'guitar' and 'samurai'. The conversion of sa to za only takes place when the name is spoken, and is arguably simply an artifact of the Japanese pronunciation system. When speaking English, the man himself says "I am guitar samurai".

- Well whatever he was back then, he's most definitely Yoku Hata now; I haven't seen him perform samurai in a while. I still don't agree with "Guitar Samurai" though. Like you said, he was speaking English when he said "I am guitar samurai", and as he is a Japanese character there is no reason to transliterate the zamurai (instantly recognizable to anyone who knows a little Japanese) to samurai. A one line explanation will suffice. I also find it interesting that you put "guitar samurai" in lowercase, though it probably wasn't intentional. It sounds like saying "I'm a guitar samurai", instead of using it as his title! freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 04:52, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
