Should the average temperature be updated to include the + millions of degrees during nuclear explosions? Or perhaps it already includes them.. or say that the temperature excludes the times of nuclear testing?.. Mircea D. (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 17:49, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Vaygach Island

edit

The holy, secret island of Finno Ugrian nomandic Nenetsi (Samoyed) people. There were numerous (more than 400) wooden totem piles and few, the most holiest ones, made from nature stone. Vaygach island become known also in western world in English explorer William Borough, who visited the island in 1556, found a site covered wiyh more than 400 stone and wooden statues of men, women, and children. This unique sight was confirmed by a Dutch trader in 1594 and subsequently in 1824 by a Russian named Ivanov, although by this time the Russian Orthodox missionaries had converted the Nenetsi people at least nominally to Christianity. The wooden idols had been broken by them into pieces, suffering the same fate that befell the totem poles, masks, etc., of the Indian tribes on the west coast of British Columbia in Canada. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.115.126.143

Missing & questionable info

edit

I'm unfamiliar with editing articles or the endless rules, regulations & requirements of doing so (notes/alerts of which are all over MANY wiki pages). Instead, I'm leaving a comment in hopes that whomever monitors such things can look into &/or request modification by ppl familiar with doing so correctly.

Vaygach was confirmed as a site of forced labor camp (Gulag) for the USSR, 1937-38 & 1933. It was named Kolyma Force Labor Camp.... Included mining, of course was an absolute horror show & there's quite a lot of photos/info on many source sites.

Also, the wooden idols that are mentioned in the article were once in a very large quantity, many damaged by brutal weather &/or ppl possibly taking them, locals it was a curse... The few that remained were repaired then relocated to a smaller island with better protection, which resolved the curse - they're n not actually still on Vaygach. Additionally, the island has long been deemed to be sacred & no permanent inhabitants or structures exist on it because only the Gods can live there - it's a sacred island. They're said to have made many stone piles as rituals, made object or animal offerings to the idols & each individual is to visit at least once in their lives to pay their respect/make an offering (like a pilgrimage). 2601:444:302:3C60:9E7C:6405:DB7F:66FD (talk) 06:42, 7 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
