Thakur is regional Bengali name. Most people, even Bengalis themselves, call him Tagore. 42.108.82.124 (talk) 12:51, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

What school did Tagore attend?

edit

I noticed today that the blue plaque on the house where Tagore lived in Brighton reads: "RABINDRANATH TAGORE 1861-1941 attended Brighton Proprietary School 1878". That's probably not the correct spelling of the name of a school. So I looked at citation #22 that this article has when it mentions him attending a school in Brighton. That document does not mention him attending a school in Brighton at all. Now, I'm sure he did, but that's not my point. My point is that the cited work does not in fact mention the thing that the article is talking about. I'd not heard of this chap until today. I don't have a suggestion as to how to resolve this. Just wanted to mention it here. tobych (talk) 21:23, 14 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Replying to myself here. Seems the name of the school as written on the plaque is, in fact, the correct spelling of the name of the school. It's mentioned here, for example. Perhaps the plaque itself might suffice as a source linking Tagore to the school. Not sure if I can cite a plaque. For what it's worth, this online article includes a photograph of the plaque. tobych (talk) 21:50, 14 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
