Place of birth
editI've added sources on Kiribayama's origins, but I was wondering why he's referred to as coming from Ulaanbaatar when he actually comes from Dornod province. Is it because he's referred to as such by the JSA? In doubt, I did not edit the place of origin - OtharLuin (talk) 07:18, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- I saw that both the JSA's Japanese-language profile and the japanese wiki both list Dornod as his birth place, so I went ahead and updated accordingly. JRHorse (talk) 03:18, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
Ozeki promotion
editI'm trying to think about previous edits but I am drawing a blank. The date of Kiribayama/Kirishima's promotion to ozeki - is it listed immediately (May 2023) or does it stay with the next basho (July 2023)? JRHorse (talk) 02:05, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- I would have argued in favor of waiting for the banzuke to come out before listing him as an ozeki, but since the article has obviously been renamed and the body of the article has also been modified accordingly, I think it's pointless to wait for the banzuke to come out before making the promotion official and treating him as such. - OtharLuin (talk) 07:17, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
- I was a little surprised at first with regards to the article renaming, but the JSA's website has an official release on the renaming and an English news article is already referring to him as such. JRHorse (talk) 10:22, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
Also as of this time the Japanese wikipedia article still calls him Kiribayama.Probably a moot statement as there is already discussion and some support for a name change on their article talk page. JRHorse (talk) 11:02, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
