Germaine / Jermain
editThe infobox shows that the spelling of the lion mascot's name is "Germaine", while the KBG website explains it is "Jermain", the last name of a founder. Which is correct? Jax MN (talk) 18:06, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
Why not NPC?
editI think readers may be curious why this sorority has not joined the NPC. It's certainly the largest of the independent, general sororities which remains unaffiliated. There are precedents on the fraternity side, where several of the largest fraternities have left the NIC to operate independently or to join the new group "Fraternity Forward Coalition." For them, the rationale was a divergence of opinion on legislative lobbying and use of funds. Nevertheless, participation in these coalitions includes the important provision that these societies cannot 'poach' members from one another, nor take whole chapters.
Prior to these coalitions, about 100 years ago, poaching like this was widespread.
For Kappa Beta Gamma this has sadly occurred for some of its local groups, where three ΚΒΓ chapters have been lost to become chapters of ΑΔΠ, ΚΔ and ΚΚΓ, two as recently as 2007.
Any insight? Jax MN (talk) 15:16, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
