I removed the sentence saying that "tortured beacon" referred to God, as it seems odd and gives no reference. IMHO, "tortured beacon" is addressing the "dear darling", as he is obviously experiencing a crisis (hence "tortured") and, reading some of the things Alanis writes about him, could be considered her "beacon" (iluminating, giving light). Granted, that's all my speculation, but it so was the God reference. Str1977 (smile back) 21:48, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
