Suicide?
editHe has been placed in the category "photographers who have committed suicide" yet there is no mention of a suicide here.. Kflorence 20:32, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- This isn't the Heinrich Hoffmann who wrote Struwwelpeter, although several pages about that link here. -Teiladnam 03:12, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
Size of archive
edit"by 1945 had taken over 2.23 million photographs of the Führer."
How can this be true? Hoffmann knew Hitler for about 25 years so that would amount to some 100,000 photos every year, or one every five minutes, around the clock, unless my math fails me. Saruwine 00:06, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- His company's photo archive is sometimes said to have been 2.5 million images. In fact it was closer to 500,000, according to Sebastian Peters of the Historisches Lexikon Bayerns. These were not all taken by Hoffmann, rather they were owned by his company. cagliost (talk) 08:42, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
Henny
editHenriette, the daughter of Heinrich Hoffmann is reported by Walter L. Langer in "the mind of Adolf Hitler" having a relation with Hitler after the death of Mrs Hoffmann. He suggests also that the fortune of Hoffmann come because he kept the secret of Hitler's sexual inprudencies with the daughter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.22.234.22 (talk) 08:59, August 25, 2007 (UTC)
- Re his knowledge of Hitler's 'Inprudences'. Those who knew too much about that sensitive subject tended to die mysteriously young (cf Geli Raubal, Renate Muller). Valetude (talk) 16:39, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

- Heinrich Hoffmann → Heinrich Hoffmann (photographer)
- Heinrich Hoffmann (disambiguation) → Heinrich Hoffmann
– No persuasive WP:Primary topic. the author get almost half the views of this article and there are many others including a painter with a similar name [1]. Also happily congruent with the German (the dubious primary topic there is a psychiatrist without an English language Wiki article) and other Wikipedias which choose to disambiguate this title. Homosexuality
editIn the The Secret Diaries Of Hitler’s Doctor, David Irving states that Hoffmann was a latent homosexual. The book is about Theodor Morell's diaries. Morell was a personal doctor to Hitler. This should be added to the article. Wythy (talk) 18:55, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- David Irving is not a reliable source. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:36, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- In Ian Kershaw's Hitler bio references there are no less than 8 Irving titles. It's disturbing that Kershaw gives an affirmed holocaust denier so much credence. Do we really need the Kershaw reference here? 2A02:AA1:1005:1646:512A:2514:777B:2CBA (talk) 13:32, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
Hitler's photographer
editAn editor has been attempting to recast the opening sentences of the article to move the fact that Hoffmann was Hitler's personal photographer farther down. He or she claims that they're not trying to downplay the fact, but that's how it appears to me. I feel strongly that if Hoffmann wasn't Hitler's personal photographer, and a member of his intimate circle, we probably wouldn't have an article on him, since everything else he did was just typical Nazi apparatchik stuff, and not very notable. (In fact, if it weren't for his status with Hitler, he probably wouldn't have done any of the other stuff either.) I am very much in favor of keeping "Hitler's personal photographer" right up front at the top of the article. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:31, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Shortdesc
edit@Beyond My Ken Your version of the shortdesc is 58 characters. Can you cut it down to around 40, per WP:SD40? Best, Wham2001 (talk) 17:15, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Take a look at the change I made and see if it's acceptable. Beyond My Ken (talk) 17:50, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Looks good to me – thanks! Wham2001 (talk) 17:53, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
Exclusivity
edit"No other photographer but Hoffmann was allowed to take pictures of Hitler"
So why are there myriads of Hitler photos around by people like Walter Frentz and Hugo Jaeger? 2A02:AA1:1005:1646:512A:2514:777B:2CBA (talk) 09:24, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps the word should be ‘authorised’ rather than ‘allowed’. Meaning that Hitler might suppress publication of other ‘unauthorised’ images, if he wished. But making Hoffman his ‘authorised’ photographer also meant that Hitler could control him and make him part of his entourage, his loyal and trusted inner circle. 2401:D006:A202:7E00:C826:F9:A75D:B89A (talk) 08:21, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
