Shipbuilders?

edit

Tontastic 11:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC) Never heard of Morton being called "The Shipbuilders" before, can anyone confirm?Reply

Jonathan Mitchell 02:18, 18 September 2006 I have deleted the line about Morton fans adopting the nickname the Millioners in response to our sponsor. I know many Morton fans and no one has adopted this nickname. If the person who added it has a problem could they please explain where this has come from. Thanks

Club name

edit

I'd always known the club as just plain "Morton", until the 1990s when they became "Greenock Morton" before reverting to "Morton". Was there an official name change? The Angel of Islington 09:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, in 1994. Salty1984 (talk) 10:03, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Morton Fans Hooligans ??? Nonsense.

edit

I would like to know where they got information stating Morton Fans were hooligans ! I have corrected this information. To the person who added that ( probably from another team ) that is a disgrace.

Not recently there's not, and they also weren't the most notorious, but there was a casuals firm "MSC" Morton Soccor Casuals, the fans do actually still sing about them to this day tho Stivgmfc69 (talk) 12:11, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Mortonlogo.gif

edit

Image:Mortonlogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Greencok Morton?

edit

I have deleted some text referring to Morton as being originally called "Greencok Morton"; this is comppletely false and very childish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.6.149.18 (talk) 11:49, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Before making substantial edits

edit

Kindly send me a message stating why you feel the change should be made, rather than just deleting things without good reason.

Remember that you do not own the article, and anyone may make edits.Dancarney (talk) 11:12, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Of course they can make edits, but when someone goes to a lot of effort to write up a page they don't want somebody that knows nothing about the topic and is just editing for the sake of it to be pedantic and nitpick to come along and delete things for no valid reason. Salty1984 (talk) 15:55, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps they are editing because, though they don't have an in-depth knowledge of the subject, they believe it to be a very messy article in need of improvement? Dancarney (talk) 16:02, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't in a very logical order, I admit, but there was no need to delete valid information which saved looking all over the place for! And when you say "they", you mean "I"... Salty1984 (talk) 18:57, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Change article name

edit

The club is officially called Morton F.C. after being changed in 1999.

"At a meeting of our then Management Committee on 8th April, 1999, a request from Greenock Morton F.C. to change its name to Morton F.C. was approved as from the start of season 1999/2000. This request was made by the then Chairman, Mr. Hugh Scott. No request has ever been made to change the club's name back again, hence the reason we still refer to the club as "Morton".

If the club wished to revert to Greenock Morton F.C. it would have to apply for approval from the SFL Board."

This is a quote from the SFL. Salty1984 (talk) 12:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The SFL page[1] calls them Greenock Morton. I just double checked to make sure. Blethering Scot 12:28, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The league table says Morton, and we're ranked below Livi on alphabetical order. Also note the weblink that you posted /club/morton.

That quote was in an email from Carol Keith at the SFL. The SFA still go with the 1994- name... they are obviously the ruling body, but seems daft Salty1984 (talk) 12:55, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

It seems as if they are confused even with the address /morton they still say Greenock Morton that along side the table that says Morton. It's now simmilar with Airdrie United, they have dropped the united from a Comercial point of view but are still officially registered with the SFA and SFL as United. Found that all out by asking them.Blethering Scot 13:33, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
