I always understood that "Blasphemous Rumours" was about 2 episodes of the same girl's life, not 2 different girls. The suicide attempt at 16, the "born again" moment when she hit 18, only to be jerked around by fate when she gets killed.
As I remember (having been there), the rainstorm over the Rose Bowl was a thunderstorm, the lightning making it all the more impressive given the accompaniment. GJK 20:11, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

editRemoved an argument between two editors over whether it's pots and pans or screeching tires - that doesn't belong in the article. Also removed info about the song "Somebody" - that info belongs in an article about that song, not in an article about "Blasphemous Rumours". Split proposal
editThese two songs are independently notable an should have separate articles (Blasphemous Rumours and Somebody [Depeche Mode song]). - I'm generally opposed to having multiple subjects sharing an article. However, the fact that this is a double A-side single seems to present problems with establishing notability. There's no question that at least one of the two songs is independently notable, but how can we prove their independent notability when all the charts only measure their joint popularity? Reading through the current article, I'm not seeing anything that establishes either song as independently notable. If you know something that does, then please, out with it.
