Allan Kozinn is one of the most important living music critics and clearly warrants an entry in Wikipedia.

2012 reassignment

edit

Can someone provide a citation about his reassignment and establish that it's a demotion rather than a promotion or a lateral move? Iq. (talk) 15:30, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The comment by Kozinn's wife Paula Brochu Kozinn from 7 October 2013 is migrated here, with her message as follows: "Kozinn takes exception to Norman Lebrecht's use of the word demotion. Although his preference was to remain a classical music critic, he as well as the Times did not consider Allan Kozinn's reassignment as a demotion. He has taken no cut in salary, hours or benefits, and his job title remains Classical Music Critic." In retrospect, I should have moved her comment at the time of my last edit, to be sure that it is more readily seen. Apologies there. Regards, DJRafe (talk) 18:05, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for rescuing those remarks here. However, Lebrecht was not alone in his assessment, and Kozinn's 2014 much deplored departure from the NY Times seems to lend retrospectively some weight to that view. He'll be missed. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 06:07, 12 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Since I can't edit this myself, I'm providing a clip that might help you update. It includes a reference to a book that isn't listed ("Got That Something: How the Beatles' 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' Changed Everything," (New York Times Books/Byliner, 2013 - available as an ebook on Amazon.com), and the fact that I now live in Portland, Maine, and some of what I've been doing since I left the NYT (Wall Street Journal, Opera News, others, and now the Portland Press Herald -- you can find the clips online, of course). Here's the Press Herald clip that may also answer some questions about my reassignment and departure: http://www.pressherald.com/2015/08/30/music-critic-allan-kozinn-finds-a-home-in-portland/ -- Thanks (Allan Kozinn) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.253.35.148 (talk) 15:20, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

DOB

edit

The inference is based on two on-line pieces of data:

  • (1) A Facebook post by the early music chamber ensemble MUSE, dated 29 July 2012, which began "Tomorrow is Allan Kozinn's birthday". Thus 30 July would be his birthday. Link to Facebook post
  • (2) The 2013 NYT wedding announcement for Kozinn and Brochu, dated 23 June 2013, which gave Kozinn's age as 58. To tally with a birthday of 30 July, this makes 1954 his year of birth. DJRafe (talk) 06:51, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • (3) So far as I know, I'm not allowed to edit my own entry, so I'm leaving this note here. My date of birth is July 28, 1954. A comment a third party makes on Facebook my not really be the most definitive way to establish that. I'm pretty easy to find -- on Facebook, for example -- and would be happy to answer questions and provide documentation. -- Allan Kozinn — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.253.35.148 (talk) 20:02, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for supplying the information (which I see someone else has emended your entry with). If you know reliable biographical sources which could amplify your entry, I'm sure several of us would be happy to incorporate that information in the article. - kosboot (talk) 02:59, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
