Background
editIn May 2015, a clash between militiamen and troops of the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) in Kabkabiya lead to injuries.[1] Attacks on farmers also continued.[2] Kidnappings were also reported[3] and refugees in the area were displaced.[4]
Battle
editBy 23 April 2023, the town fell under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.[5] Three employees of the World Food Programme (WFP) were killed after being caught in the crossfire at a military base. Two other staff members were injured.[6]
