Arab leaders congratulate Pezeshkian’s victory in Iran presidential elections

Tehran, IRNA — Leaders of Arab countries have congratulated Iranian president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian over his victory in Iran’s 14th presidential election.

Following Pezeshkian's success in the runoff election, the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa congratulated the president-elect in a message on saturday.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also in a message congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory in the runoff elections.

The official said that Syria will pursue the expansion of strategic ties with the Islamic Republic and open up new promising perspectives for cooperation.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated Pezeshkian on his election victory.

Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid in his congratulatory message hailed the results of the election, saying that his country is keen on bolstering bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad in line with securing the interests of the two neighboring countries.

Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has also congratulated Pezeshkian on the election.

Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, also felicitated Pezeshkian on his success in the presidential race.

The Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq is among foreign officials who congratulated Pezeshkian on the victory. 

I wish success for Pezeshkian in his new position, President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan wrote in his congratulatory message, expressing his willingness to further expand bilateral relations that benefit both sides. 

Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, extended congratulations to Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential election, underscoring the commitment to continue cooperation between the two nations at the highest level.

He highlighted the profound ties between the two neighboring and friendly countries and the significance of ongoing coordination across diverse sectors to promote mutual interests.

Nichervan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and Masoud Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in separate messages, congratulated the election of Dr. Pezeshkian as the elected president of Iran.

On Saturday, Barzani wrote in his congratulatory message, "on behalf of myself and the people of Kurdistan, I congratulate you on your victory in the elections and I hope you will be successful".

In a message today (Saturday), Vice Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Majlis Shiites of Lebanon, while congratulating the successful holding of the presidential elections of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized that these elections were an expression of the national unity of the nation in this country and their adherence to the principles of the Islamic Revolution.

According to IRNA, quoting Al-Ahed news site, Sheikh "Ali Al-Khatib", the Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Assembly of Lebanon's Shiites, emphasized in this message: "The successful holding of the presidential election, which led to the victory of Mr. Dr. We congratulate Imam Khamenei and the dear people of Iran."

Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri sent separate messages to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and president-elect Pezeshkian.

Berri congratulated the Supreme Leader on the successful presidential elections, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran, under his wise leadership, proved that it acts greatly in upholding democracy.

The Lebanese official also congratulated Pezeshkian on his election victory, wishing him and the Iranian nation progress and stability.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory as well, emphasizing that his country is determined to develop ties with Iran based on the interests of both sides.

Yemen's Prime Minister Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential election.

In a message reported on early hours of Sunday, Abdulaziz Saleh expressed his gratitude to the leadership and the people of Iran for the successful holding of the presidential election and best wishes for the elected president in carrying out his presidential duties and achieving more successes for Iran and its people.

In a separate congratulatory message, Head of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat expressed hope that relations between the two countries are enhanced further.

Spokesman for Yemen's Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdul-Salam also congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory in Iran’s presidential election.

Former Iraqi President Barham Salih has congratulated the election of Masoud Pezeskhian as the 9th president of Iran.

According to IRNA's Sunday morning report, Salih in his message said: I sincerely congratulate your Excellency on your election as the president of Iran and wish you success in serving the dear nation of Iran and have peace, progress and prosperity. 

Walid Jumblat, the former head of the Progressive Socialist Party and one of the leaders of the Druze in Lebanon, sent a message and congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as president of Iran and wished him success in his new position.

Walid Jumblatt emphasized in his message to Pezeshkian: "I congratulate you on your victory in the Iranian presidential elections and the confidence of the Iranian people in your views on the future.

In a message on Monday night, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential elections of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

El-Sisi wrote in his congratulatory message that Pezeshkian’s victory showed the confidence of the Iranian people in his abilities to serve his country.

In a message, Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh congratulated the elected president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the successful holding of the presidential elections and his election as the new president.

Pezeshkian won the runoff presidential elections held on Friday to become Iran’s 9th president. Out of a total of 30,530,157 votes counted, Pezeshkian, a heart surgeon, won 16,384,403 votes while Saeed Jalili stood behind his rival with 13,538,179 ballots. The turnout was reported to be 49.8%.
