Strategies for Improving Learning & Test Taking

Be sure to check out Getting Good Grades with Gadgets for information about mainstream and/or assistive technologies to succeed in school. On that webpage, you'll find a list of gadgets that can assist students with notetaking, reading, writing, studying, research, time management, organization, math, and more.

Notetaking

Audio Notetaking Technologies:

Check out Audio Notetaking Technology Comparison to learn about some of the notetaking technology options such as the Livescribe smartpen, Glean, and OneNote that can help students keep up with lectures and retain the information.

If you would like to explore your eligibility to record class lectures as an accommodation, please contact your Access Specialist.  If you are not approved for the accommodation of recording lecture information but are interested in doing so for your personal review, we recommend reaching out to your instructor to request permission.

If you’d like a consultation or training on any of the audio notetaking technologies linked above (e.g., OneNote, Glean, Livescribe smartpen, tablet apps), just call the DRC front desk to schedule an appointment with John Lee, Assistive Technology Specialist: 805-756-1395.
