Wild fire area at lake Norra Hörken
[edit]Hi Taxelson - thanks for the note! I think you have the category ('Remains of fire') about right, I can't think of a better one. A couple of spellings; it should be 'scar' (not 'scare'), and 'cambium' (not 'kambium') - MPF 10:44, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Wikimedia Commons has a specific scope
[edit]
Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote.
If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Thank you for your understanding. abf /talk to me/ 13:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I was unfortunately interrupted just before I did list the images-files. Now I think timring is in the scope(even if there is still some job to be done on the page) Taxelson 16:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, can i restore the old discussion and move it to the Holz Kiefer1 discussion overwriting your comment there? --Martin H. (talk) 17:09, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- I did it, to preserve the history of editors. Hope thats ok? will do some comment to the talkpage. --Martin H. (talk) 17:18, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it is OK. Thank you! Taxelson (talk) 17:58, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 03:06, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

- I GIMP kör jag sedan Arkiv:Hämta in":"Klistra in som ny" (Shift+ctrl+V).
Taxelson (talk) 08:35, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Takk, takk, jeg skal forsøke det etterhvert. ;-) V85 (talk) 17:06, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Wild fire area
[edit]Hi! You have made very interesting page about wildfire forest. It was really nice to read and see images about the forest recovery from the fire. Hälsningar från Finland! --Makele-90 (talk) 22:06, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

This may be biased, as width may be decreasing and volume may be encreasing! Bulwersator (talk) 09:25, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for note. No, that is not biased. But if you are interested in the volume growth of a whole tree, this diagram will not help. Taxelson (talk) 09:55, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- But it is suggesting that growth of tree is decreasing over time what is untrue Bulwersator (talk) 16:37, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, it is just suggesting that the innermost (=oldest) growth rings normally are wider than the outer (younger) ones, which is what you can see at almost any crosscut, for instance File:Pinus silvestris cross beentree.jpg. Taxelson (talk) 16:46, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- "(This decrease of ring widths does of course not mean that the growth of the volume of the hole tree will decrease)" - now it is ok, thanks Bulwersator (talk) 18:07, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- "hole"? Maybe "whole"? Bulwersator (talk) 18:07, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Of course, thanks! Taxelson (talk) 18:17, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

/Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 14:26, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
