A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Proof-of-license-VIN-release-text.png, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Problemer med tilladelser

[edit]

Hej!

Wrong naming of imports from the Shtooka project

[edit]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you demand from me to do a mass edit fixing an import done 13 years ago.

I don't remember how this upload was done. Perhaps I used a code supplied by someone else. I don't remember how I extracted metadata like speaker and word spoken. Files I can now download from Shtooka don't have any metadata - neither as text files, nor inside .flac files. I don't see an easy way to fix those recordings automatically. --Derbeth talk 14:45, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Derbeth: No, I requested you to fix it :) I understand if you don't want to do it. You can do it only based on the metadata on the commons files, see "short title" e.g. here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sv-and.ogg so if you can find a way to parse the metadata it should be fairly straight forward IMO. I know python myself, but I have never parsed from a commons page, nor have I batch edited names of files, so I would like to leave it to others more experienced users if possible.--So9q (talk) 18:09, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What is this 'short title'? I tried to find 'en and' in File:Sv-and.ogg but it does not appear anywhere. --Derbeth talk 17:02, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ISS056 overcat

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons! Thank you for you contributions. When you add categories generally just use the most specific category. For example if you categorize an image of a yellow circle, it should generally only be in Category:Yellow circles and not also Category:Yellow shapes or Category:Circles, thank you.

@So9q: du har kopieret en masse billeder fra Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) til Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station. Dette er i strid med COM:OVERCAT da Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) allerede er en underkategori til Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station. Kunne du venligst få rullet denne fejl tilbage?

Nej, f.eks. File:ISS056-E-91 - View of Earth.jpg findes i både Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station og Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) og bør kun være tilgængelig i Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) hvilket er den mest specifikke kategori af de to. Askeuhd (talk) 12:39, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sufficiently proficient in Swedish to understand your reply - you indicated on your user page that your native tongue is Danish which is why I contacted you in Danish, but let us proceed in English to avoid any further confusion. While I am referring to a single file in the following example, this problem applies to all the images you erroneously moved to Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station. First of all, the parent category, Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station should only contain images that cannot otherwise be sorted into the expedition-specific categories such as Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations and thus Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station should contain very few if any images at all, almost all of them will be sorted into the more specific category of Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (or other, depending on the applicable expedition). Furthermore, the category Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) is a subcategory of Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations intended for the batch-uploaded, unsorted and uncurated photographs. A select few of the images from Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) maybe moved to Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations if they have any specific useful quality on their own. Note that the images must be moved, as it should not be present in both categories.
So let us go over that example file:
  1. [1] you added both the dump category and the main expedition category, which is wrong as it should only be present in one of these. Since it was hundreds of sequential images from the dump category, they should probably have remained in the dump category.
  2. [2] you added the image to the Category:Earth at night seen from space - this is great, and just what is needed for the images. Try to find a specific subcategory of Category:Earth at night seen from space if you can, as to not flood this category.
  3. [3] you added the images to the category Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station this is once again overcategorization, because as explained above Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations is a subcategory of Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station and Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump) is subcategory of Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations and thus the image should only be present in Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations (dump).
  4. [4] you removed the Category:ISS Expedition 56 Crew Earth Observations but this only solved some of the overcategorization as you also need to remove Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station to be fully complaint with COM:OVERCAT.
I hope this make sense to you. If we did not try to prevent overcategorization the category Category:Earth photography from the International Space Station would contain millions of images and be completely un-navigable. Askeuhd (talk) 14:41, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Tak for forklaringen.
Thanks for uploading File:Koleragraven sabra.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.
