Saint-Petersburg Artillery museum
[edit]Hello One half 3544!
Thank you for uploading tons of delightful pics of vehicles (tanks, SAMs, etc) of the Saint-Petersburg Artillery museum. Do you have more? For example a pic of the TOR-SAM-system? This vehicle is standing next to the SA-13-System which you have photographed (Image:9A35 Strela-10.JPG). The Tor-tank would stand on the left hand side (seen from the sa-13-tank). Greets, High Contrast (talk) 10:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Here it is. Photo is not very good - sky is overburned, that is why I hesitated uploading it. I have more pics from there of course, I hope to upload them all one day =). If you need something particular, just ask, I'll upload it at once. --One half 3544 (talk) 19:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- THANKS! Ok, the Tor-photo is a little bit overburned, but it is better than most of the others that can be found here... It is a good and useful pic. Do you have photos of S-300-SAM-vehicles? Did one of these stand at the artillery museum in st. Petersburg? --High Contrast (talk) 08:25, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- No, unfortunately there are no S-300 vehicles there. --One half 3544 (talk) 15:21, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

- Ok, we can't change it :). But it suffices to upload the other images you have taken - that's enough, I think... Thank you for your feedback! Greets, High Contrast (talk) 19:12, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello!
Please do not overwrite the old image version. Re-upload the new one separatly. Thanks in advance. --High Contrast (talk) 20:10, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Same for this one: File:9A330 Tor.JPG. --High Contrast (talk) 20:12, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- Why? They are of the same object, same point of view, same everything.. except that they have better quality. --One half 3544 (talk) 20:19, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- No, it is not the exact point of view. Therefore a separate upload is appreciated. --High Contrast (talk) 20:20, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll revert File:2P24 Krug.jpg, but File:9A330 Tor.JPG seems to me quite the same in point of view sense. Do you have any objections to File:KS-30.JPG update, btw? --One half 3544 (talk) 20:33, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- This update seem suitable. You must understand: I think your images are too good to let them go under as an "old" version. Some of them are quite rare, so it is helpful to have other files with a slightly different view and quality. Thanks for supporting! Greetings, High Contrast (talk) 15:24, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Hello One half 3544!
I think you have the knowledge about these FROG-missiles: Would be great if you create proper categories for each typer of FROG missile that can be found here. Greetings, High Contrast (talk) 08:56, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it seems to be done already. Most images from Category:FROG missiles fall into Category:9K52 Luna-M (FROG-7 (FROG-7B, since FROG-7A is the same TEL, but with nuclear warhead-equipped missile)) through Category:9P113 (TEL GRAU designation) and Category:9T29 (transporter). FROG 3 (HE warhed)/5(nuclear warhead) is Category:2K6 Luna. Again, all photos are of 3R9 HE missiles. FROG-2 is Category:2K1 Mars. FROG-1 will be Category:2K4 Filin when I visit Artillery museum with wide lens =).
- This leaves FROG-4 and FROG-6 - some sources state that they are 2K6 with dummy warheads. --One half 3544 (talk) 09:54, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Monument to Dokuchaev in Pushkin.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Monument to Dokuchaev in Pushkin.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!
[edit]Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
