Provenance research and restitution claims in the Soviet Union
[edit]My name is Maria Silina (they/them). Currently, I am involved in a collaborative project focusing on restitution requests and irregular displacements and alienations of museum collections in the Soviet Union. One of the project's goals is to develop a collaborative database by an (ever) growing network of scholars and experts who have access to museum archives and collections in the region, especially in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Uzbekistan —a challenging task in most post-Soviet countries.
Recently, I have organized an event addressing restitution claims and irregular or unlawful alienations of objects in the Soviet Union, with more events planned in the near future: Soviet Museum Management, Oct 30 2023 [1]
Ukrainian Museums at War, Nov 17 2023 [2]
I am very interested in collaborating on provenance research and restitution claims in/to the Soviet Union. Please reach me out for questions and ideas. My LinkedIn [3] Mekmeck (talk) 15:52, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
