Hoi MADe, er zijn nogal wat opmerkingen en verbeteringen gemaakt nadat jij het verwijderverzoek voor deze afbeelding hebt ingediend, kan je er ajb nog eens naar kijken en je mening geven als nominator? Groet, NielsF 00:58, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Ely_Ould_Mohamed_Vall.JPG
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Ely_Ould_Mohamed_Vall.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --Siebrand 16:04, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Derivative works
[edit]We don't mind what that Flickr user says. The action figures are copyrighted by Matt Groening, so he would need a written permission to make photos of them. Please take a look at Commons:Derivative works. Regards. --Dodo 16:30, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Nathalie Mahy en Stacy Lemmens.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Ctrl+Alt+Del
[edit]Are you able to send the last e-mail from Tim Buckley to me, in which he redraws his permission for the Ctrl+Alt+Del images? My e-mailaddress can be found in the same OTRS-log, the ticketID is 1327768. Thanks in advance.
I will edit the pages where I have used these uploaded images from Tim.
Also, this image does seems to be allowed:
Does this mean I can use images from the comic, as long as they are used inside the comics?
RobbertSH (talk) 11:18, 17 February 2008 (CET)
- As Tim puts it: "That is fine. I give my consent for that one image to be put under GFDL." So, only one image is allowed into GFDL MADe 16:58, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

[edit]Hello MADe,
I was wondering if you were able to provide a higher resolution image for Image:Sedimentation_tank.jpg. I would like to use it to work on the wikipedia settling tank article (here) User A1 (talk) 12:06, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Ronn, I'll upload the high resolution image and add it to the article. Sorry for my late reply MADe (talk) 09:52, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:48, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Wedstrijd Wiki Love Monuments 2011
[edit]Beste Made,

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. odder (talk) 20:24, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
[WLM] CentralNotice record slogan in South African languages
[edit]Hi Maarten,
I have been requesting people to translate our record slogan (scheduled to appear on the banners as soon as we break 168,000 pictures uploaded) for a few days already, but it looks like we are still missing translations into the three languages used in South Africa.
Could you please have the slogan ("Participate in the world's largest photo competition and help improve Wikipedia!") translated for us into Afrikaans, Northen Sotho (Sepedi) and Tswana (Setswana), and add them to Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2012/CentralNotice#Record banner so I could move them to Meta in a few days' time? Thanks in advance! odder (talk) 12:06, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hey Odder, we are planning 4 irl events for the competition: "Provincial upload marathons" in Cape Town, Gauteng, Kimberley and Port Elizabeth. I propose to change the banner into: "World's largest photo competition Wiki Loves Monuments comes to you, meet us in Cape Town, Gauteng, Kimberley or Port Elizabeth" MADe (talk) 17:22, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- It should be Port Elizabeth and not Port Elisabeth. Thanks. LouriePieterse 18:49, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- adjusted MADe (talk) 20:39, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Maarten and Lourie — can we just have the original record banner translated into the South African languages before we discuss your local outreach events' one? I would like to use the record banners starting on the September 20 until the end of the competition, so we'll need to have them translated anyway; besides, I have no information whatsoever about that campaign: when are the events scheduled for, how long do you want to have them advertised on CentralNotice, etc. Time is running, so I would very much appreciate having the slogan "Participate in the world's largest photo competition and help improve Wikipedia!" translated into those languages as soon as possible. Thanks in advance, odder (talk) 21:42, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
[edit]In other languages (translate this)
|
---|
|
Thank you for uploading some images!
Did you know that Wikimedia Commons recommends the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format for certain types of images? Scalable Vector Graphics are designed to look appropriate at any scale, and SVG images are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export. If you encountered problems or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (To avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put raster images into an SVG container as embedded raster.) Thanks, and happy editing!
