We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. Hallo,
- OK, erledigt. --JuTa 15:31, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
How can we check whether a file has got the right OTRS-permission? This file seems to be still pending, and this uploader has (imo) a bad reputation in promising OTRS-permission, when permission never comes. I suggest replacing the No permission-template, or what would you suggest? Greeting, Eissink (talk) 13:55, 23 November 2019 (UTC).
- Such Images falling automaticly into a "no permission" cat after some time depending on the lenght of the OTRS queue if no OTRS agent confirmes the release. Please just be patient. --JuTa 13:58, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
- I was not aware of that, so thank you. Since my template obviously changed the date, I have added the pending date by hand. Eissink (talk) 14:06, 23 November 2019 (UTC).
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

File:Upc-insurance-logo-.png.
Hello,
I do not own this image. I uploaded it in order to add it to the UPC Insurance page on Wikipedia. My understanding was that it is OK to use a company's logo if only for it's Wikipedia page. Can you offer me some advice on how to properly label this image so that it can be used on the page and comply with copyright policies?
Thanks!
DaniaAlrehaili (talk) 18:30, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi every image on commons needs to be reuseable for anybody for any purpose (and not only in a wikidepia article). You may try to upload it locally to en: under en:Wikipadia:Fair use. regards --JuTa 19:18, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you! I just did that. This version on Wikipedia Commons can be deleted.
DaniaAlrehaili (talk) 19:26, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
Why don't you ask the original uploader? --Filip (§) 23:01, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- Because it should be mentioned in the OTRS ticket. --JuTa 06:49, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
Why did you delete the photo that I uploaded? I send the permission on october 7th and I also got a ticket number 2019100710006909 for it with the explanation that it can take a while for the OTRS volunteers to review it but you deleted it with the explanation that no permission was sent and that is just not true. can you please upload it again? Carpatianlynx (talk) 22:47, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, there was no confirmation on the file description page by an OTRS volounteer that the release was valid. After a month (or so) such images automaticly get sorted into some "please delete" categories. Please ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard for your case. regards --JuTa 03:19, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Wiki Science Competition 2019
Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015 and Wiki Science Competition 2017, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2019 has started in the whole world. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), Ukraine and France (active during November), but it's still open in all the other countries.
If you want to take part where WSC2019 is still open, please consult this page. Only some national categories are associated to competitions with local prizes.
If you are an expert user, please consider that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface.
Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, i.e. "nature and wildlife".
If you already took part in a country that has completed its upload phase, please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them. World finalists will be finalized after March 2020.
Sorry for bothering you and have a nice wiki.

I got your ping. I didn't sleep all night so I'll answer you after 12 hours.--Kai3952 (talk) 22:35, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
- You evidently quite misunderstand me in this matter. But now I discovered that Alexis Jazz was right because I realize that trying to explain things didn't work. What happened on 29 November 2019 that won't change because of what I do here. No-one will know what I went through during contributing to Wikimedia Commons(I have amassed over 35,000 hand-made edits since my time here). I was feeling unimportant and abandoned. I almost want to give up everything. Therefore, I don't want to explain anymore.--Kai3952 (talk) 12:09, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

- Ask yourself. By the way, I don't care about autopatrolled because I am not editing anymore and its obvious you do not care about my feelings. Like you told me earlier, I shouldn't be autopatrolled for their own benefit, but I see that you forced me to accept autopatrol for your own benefit.--Kai3952 (talk) 21:50, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- How am I supposed to know? What do you think, that I would do your work again? Why would I? You're autopatrolled now, I won't be looking at your work. And why do you constantly quote me out of context? Why do you vilify me? You accepted autopatrol for the benefit of all 598 patrollers, not just me. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 21:57, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

- Are you depressed? I don't think we could help you with that, family and medical professionals are better at that than random internet folk. But we don't want you to be unhappy. We are not asking you to leave. In fact, the only reason I'm still talking to you is to try to convince you to get back to work. - @Alexis Jazz: I have a question: is patroller the same as autopatroller? Cause, looking to the list of patrollers as stated above... The administrator only cares about why I "resist" the autopatrol and doesn't care what I say. He thinks I'm wasting everyone's time, so I told him that what's the point of you helping me if I want to leave Wikimedia Commons. Sources of images
Hi! So I am quite new here and I am not very familiar with how to properly source images. Which websites are "okay" to put as a source of the image?I read the tutorial, but I am still super confused as to where to find out whether a certain image has or hasn't this and that status or permission to use.
- Only sources which clearly stating one on commons accepted licenses - see Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright tags. regards --JuTa 06:25, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
Copyright status: File:Tien Vlaamse houthakkers.jpg
hiJuTa, I noticed the remark on my page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Garnhami#Copyright_status%3A_File%3ATien_Vlaamse_houthakkers.jpg). However, I am not that good with changing the status of images. The image itself is from 1918, it is a scan I found online. I think it is free to use as it falls into this category: "Works published before 1924 are in the public domain." But I am not sure how I can change the status. All that is know about it: it is from 1918 and it is a postcard from Belgium and it is from "ons vaderland" (a newspaper). There are 10 soldiers on it. We know the names of the soldiers, but that is it.Garnhami (talk) 10:15, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Garnhami. The "Works published before 1924 are in the public domain." is only valid for works published in the USA. When the image can be found online, you should link the source page. Is there any author listed? The status of such images depends on the death year of the photographer which is for Belgium 70 years (died before 1949). regards --JuTa 10:25, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- HiJuTa, oh, I see. The picture van be found here: https://schrijversgewijs.be/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Hermans-strafcompnie-aan-de-Orne.jpg There is no information about who took the picture. Since the image was taken in early 1918 during the first world war, it is possible that the person taking it died before 1949, but it is not sure as we do not know much about it. I can try to find something more about it, but most official databases have no further information on this picture.Garnhami (talk) 10:32, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Please use this link at the file description page in the source field. If you cannot find an author it may be {{PD-anon-70-EU}}. You can then use that license-template. regards. --JuTa 10:35, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- HiJuTa I added the template you gave here, I hope it is all fine now.Garnhami (talk) 19:17, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, I removed the problem talk and did some other fixes now. regards --JuTa 19:20, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Authorization for File:Tombe de Noël Lacroix.jpg sent to OTRS
Hi JuTa!
I am trying to help GrosjeanVessot3: believe me or not, but he is 82 years old…
It is about File:Tombe de Noël Lacroix.jpg (Tomb of Noël Lacroix) that he uploaded. That file was removed because missing authorization of the author of the image.
He fist posted the authorization on the file page itself (see here) and on his own discussion page (see here)… I told him to send it to the OTRS.
He finally sent the authorization to the OTRS and the image has been restored. Almost good.
The message on the file page is now “An email containing details of the permission for this file has been sent in accordance with Commons:OTRS.”
Does he still have to do something?
I would like to avoid that the image is deleted a second time.
Only for info: discussion between GrosjeanVessot3 and me on the "Bistro" page (in French).
Thanks,
—— Dodeeric (talk) 12:30, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Dodeeric, that looks OK to me for the moment. If the release will confirmed by an OTRS agent the file will be kept permanently of not it will likely get redeleted in a month or two. If he or the copyright holder receiives any anserback by OTRS (i.e. with question) they should replay and answer those questions. regards --JuTa 14:44, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi JuTa, I was wondering what should happen with von und zu like in Hans von und zu Aufseß. Thank you for your time. :-) Lotje (talk) 10:46, 26 December 2019 (UTC)
- Either ignore them completly or create a cat named Category:Von und zu Aufseß and put that into Category:Von (surname particle), Category:Zu (surname particle) and Category:Aufseß (surname). --JuTa 10:50, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

Removal of red categories
Why edits like this?? Someone may create the category when they have more files and more information... Can I revert? --Sailko (talk) 12:58, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
- If you create the cat -> you are wellcome, but dont leave them red. They just senseless. --JuTa 13:00, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
- No, it's not senseless. Ancient pottery painting is not a subject I have a deep knowledge of, so I just leave the creation to someone who can properly find the correct subcategorization. Leaving a red category is not problem, so I'm going to revert your edits. --Sailko (talk) 11:44, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
- Please find someone who can check if those painters are Attic, or Apulian or Etruscan, the YOU can create the category, just removing it is a pure vandalism. Thank you --Sailko (talk) 11:50, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

User:Aitortxasko 17:42, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
- I dont think there is a suitable free license for this kind of work. It is likely still under copyright and definitly not cc-by-sa as you claimed. When I look to COM:TAG Spain there is nothing really fitting for it. --JuTa 20:32, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
Juli 2019).

Winnicott Clare jpg. permission
Hello JuTa, I am grateful for your message. In truth, I am confused by the licensing rules. I got the image from a German website on women psychoanalysts and I gave their url on the upload. I think this is fair use as the picture relates only to the Wikipedia article on the subject. I shall contact the website and see if they are prepared to share the image under their licence, if they can do that. It depends on whether they answer within the time limit. Thank you again.--Po Mieczu (talk) 12:25, 5 January 2020 (UTC) PS. I have written to request permission of the publishers of the book which carries the picture of the subject. Hopefully they can reply shortly.--Po Mieczu (talk) 13:09, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- Well, every image on commons needs a valid license template on its description page, which is missing here. A written persmission should be send by its author Marc Gerson to the commons support team - see [Commons:OTRS]], naming a license of his choice like {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. --JuTa 18:58, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

Reason of deleting?
Good evening. What is the reason for deleting the file: Gederymove Pershe.png? This is 100% my work, like the whole map. --Finbin (talk) 20:35, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Such maps are likely copied from anywhere (in the internet). If you are indeed the author please try to conform this through Commons:OTRS. Thx, --JuTa 00:50, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
No, it's my own work. Whole map. Can you tell me in plain language what I need to do? Delete and download by specifying the type of license, or what? --Finbin (talk) 02:17, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
- Send a mail confirming your authorship to the commons support team (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org) as documented at Commons:OTRS. regards --JuTa 02:19, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

File deletion Sajed.ir_Logo.png causes problems in Template:Sajed
Hi, you deleted a file years ago which is still used in a template. The template is used exact 50 times as template. I am not very active on commons but you are; can you care about what should happen with the template? Thanks --Keks by 16:14, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I removed it now within the template. --JuTa 17:45, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
This deletion
I would like to challenge the deletion that you made here. It is false to say that this work had no source. The source whilst being inexact should clearly indicate that is a derived page of another work at Commons, at worst. The link should have been fixed to indicate the file, not deleted. As an experienced admin here, I would hope that you could be more considerate of the sister projects and not delete in scope, in use images.
In this case there is no requirement to undelete as the user has just gone through upload process again and with the same data (amended here). I would presume that it is similar to other uploads that they have done. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:35, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

Excuse me, but why have you deleted that photograph? It's marked as Public Domain here by the Queensland's State Archives.. -- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 11:28, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- The Flickr Public Domain mark ist not accepted on Commons - see here and here. regards --JuTa 12:59, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Excuse me JuTa, but still don't understand. On which ground is not accepted? Because a non-CC licence is revokable? Or what else? -- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 16:22, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, and the license dont has tro be set by the copyright holder. As fas as I understand flickr accepts that "just" because the uploader thinks its public domain. Anyhow those images are regularly marked as "no license since" by bots or directly by flickr2commons since years. regards --JuTa 18:35, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for bothering explaining. Actually, then, I did a little research and found out that this file was incorrectly licenced as PD because probably someone didn't notice the difference: actually is in cc-by-sa-3.0 by the Government of Queensland, as you can see here- Do you think it can be restored, on this ground? -- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 22:40, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Torosyan - Torosian
Hi JuTa, what to do? Depending on the language, the name is written differently. I created a Category:Torosyan (surname) but also Category:Torosian (surname) --> Category:Jim Torosian seems to be needed. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 14:39, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
- Well, the important "value" is the english label on wikidata and/or the title of the en: article of the person. Commons categories are generally named based on the english version of their names. So Category:Torosian (surname) should be created as well. Its not a problem to have multiple name cats for different variants of the "same" name. There are i.e. Category:Meier (surname), Category:Maier (surname), Category:Meyer (surname) and Category:Mayer (surname). Greetings --JuTa 14:49, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello, JuTa, I already edited file's copyright and license that you told this may deleted due to copyright, I saved this image from blog and he ain't image's owner so this image is public, I don't know about copyright policy in Commons but I think I correctly edited this, if this file still not allows, please tell or introduce how to get correct methods, thank you --GRKMahawangsa (talk) 11:57, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, every image is copyrighted except explicity stated by the author and/or copyright owner. You copied the image from a blog where the blog-owner likely did a copyright violation. So, this image likely cannot be kept on commons. Sorry. --JuTa 12:02, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- If I get permission from blog-owner, is my image still be in Commons? Thank you--GRKMahawangsa (talk) 12:10, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- If the blog-owner is the author of the image, which means he shot the image himself, and he confirmes the publication under a free license through Commons:OTRS by sending an email to the commons support team, yes. But I cant belive he is the author of the image. --JuTa 12:12, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- This image is late king of malaysia, but I think he took image without any strict about license or copyright, should I request permission to him who are blog-owner which published the image?, or I should request permission to Selangor royal family who may can claims this image, thank you --GRKMahawangsa (talk) 12:37, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- It needs to be the author and/or copyright holder of the image who gives the release. Nobody else has the right to do this. Not the owner of the blog and not the heirs of the depicted person. If you can find another source naming the author and if the author died before more than 70 years then you might apply the license {{PD-old}}, but if not you have to ask him or his heirs for permssions. --JuTa 12:44, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Nobody claims this photo, and the photographer may already died because this photo may took when he was early 20s (at least, before he enthroned as sultan), I think this photo is public property in right now, but if it's, is it still can be in Commons? --GRKMahawangsa (talk) 14:00, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Well I now found {{PD-Malaysia}}, which indicated its could be in public domain now if it was first published before 1970. But then you need to seach deeper, if you can find an author the source blog-page is not enough to assume it was published anonymously. --JuTa 17:03, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

New Brunswick government Flickr photos
Hello, I've sent an email to media-medias@gnb.ca ( https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/contacts/communicationsContact.html ) asking about the Public Domain license on their Flickr account photos. The {{No license}} tag on File:NB_Highland_Games_Festival_Festival_des_Jeux_Highland_du_Nouveau-Brunswick_(35852929270).jpg expires in 7 days. Is there a way to extend the deadline? Government responses are notoriously slow. Thank you. // sikander { talk } 🦖 02:17, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Dear JuTa,
At nl.wiktionary we suddenly lost the picture mentioned in the title. I don't understand the reason for its removal. As the title indicates the picture is from a catalogue published in 1913. For this type of works where a collective (the Leonidas company) is the author, copyright expires 70 years after publication, which would be 1983. Is it possible to restore the image? --MarcoSwart (talk) 13:11, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Well, it was uploaded completly without a source, which is required. --JuTa 17:06, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- My guess is that at the time it was uploaded this requirement did not exist in its present form and the indication in the filename would have been considered sufficient. Adding this information to the description box appears a more reasonable solution than removing a file that has been in use for quite some time. If you would restore the image I would be happy to add information about the source. --MarcoSwart (talk) 00:07, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- If you have a source for it I will be happy to restore the image. regards --JuTa 06:39, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- The source for the picture is: Prijscourant voor 1913, Rijwielenfabriek Leonidas - Karel Lengs & Zonen, Tegelen. The publication itself is not online, there is a copy in the collection of the Oudheidkamer Rhoon/Poortugaal and there are several ads referring to it at the time, like this one. --MarcoSwart (talk) 12:02, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi MarcoSwart, I restored the file now... regards --JuTa 19:06, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
collages of Slovak election-streets
Hi, Im not sure whether Im writing at the right place. You have probably by mistake deleted two images which I have uploaded. They have disappeared. Slovensko_ulice_pred_voľbami_jeseň_2019.jpg and Voľby_NR_SR_Piešťany_&_Bratislava_január_2020.jpg By what right did you delete them? There was no discussion about the issue. All photos used in collage were mine own and I could support the use of pictures by the permission from the political parties. Was the issue that those were collages? Its no real problem, I can upload the photos again, one by one. Thanks.--Belisarius~skwiki (talk) 08:10, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Belisarius~skwiki, but the depicted election posters are copyrighted and now your own work and there is no so called freedom of panorama in Slovenia - see Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Slovenia#Freedom of panorama. regards. --JuTa 19:10, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Belisarius~skwiki, I now see its in Slovakia not Slovenia - see COM:FOP Slovakia. But nevertheless election posters are not counted as permanently situated in public places. So the result is unfortunatly the same. --JuTa 19:22, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

- Hi सुबोध कुलकर्णी, as long as there is no confirmation by an OTRS volouteer that there is a valid release for the file, likely no admin will restore it. Please ask on Commons:OTRS noticeboard for your case (best including the ticket number if you have one). regards. --JuTa 07:44, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

File:Musavver_Gazetesi_Serlevhası.png
Hi JuTa, the writer of the File:Musavver_Gazetesi_Serlevhası.png file has passed away in 1910. The state website that i have stated is the source that i have found. In there, there is a scanned version of the newspaper's issues that have been published between 1897-98. That is why i request this mistake to be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Satirdan kahraman (talk • contribs) 13:56, 29 January 2020 (UTC)

- Da war schlicht keine Lizenz-Vorlage auf der Dateibeschreibungsseite sondern {{Remove this line and insert a license instead}}.
- Okay, verstehe. Du könntest in diesem Fall mit {{PD-textlogo}}{{Trademarked}} leben? Gruß, --Emha (talk) 16:10, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
