Communication with English ARBCOM

[edit]

My sole communication with the English ARBCOM, was an e-mail sent to me on 29 September containing two sentences:

I'm emailing on behalf of the Arbitration Committee. It's been suggested to us that you are the owner of the "redacted" twitter account (redacted). Could you please comment on whether that is the case?

I responded to this with a short e-mail saying:

I have requested a revdel on my page after it was posted there in violation of the outing policy.

After that - On AN/I - I saw multiple different speculations as to who might be running this. I don't want to aid a fishing expedition.

Considering that the twitter account - REDACTED

thanked an AN/I commentator for a lead (on 24 September) regarding an AE thread - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement&diff=917169455&oldid=917169402

I was in involved in on 22 September and 20 September.

It might be unlikely that me and him are the same.

I then received on 1 October another two liner:

The Arbitration Committee has seen sufficient links between your wikipedia account and the REDACTED twitter account that it has been convinced that you are running it. The twitter account has been used to harass multiple Wikipedians, and so the committee is blocking you indefinitely

In short - nothing much of evidence has been offered to me, nor much of a chance to refute.

I will note I filed my Jimbo Talk appeal on 17:59 29 September 2019 - 1 Hour before the 7 day appeal deadline was up. I was waiting for the deadline to file the drafted appeal (which took several days to craft). After posting the appeal, I also replied to the ARBCOM e-mail. I am flattered, very flattered, that ARBCOM thinks it took me 27 minutes (the time between their e-mail and the appeal being posted) - to craft that rather long appeal. Real life is more prosaic - I had a timer set (to approx. an hour before the appeals deadline) to go downstairs and post the draft I had on my computer on Jimbo Talk. I saw the first ARBCOM e-mail at the same time. Icewhiz (talk) 21:44, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am in discussion with the English ARBCOM to receive an explanation or evidence for the block. Icewhiz (talk) 10:46, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • As I like to get my facts straight, I want to ask you here, directly and publicly: was the "REDACTED" twitter account in question that you mention yourself yours or do you deny that? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 06:19, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I have said above, I have never confirmed this twitter account was mine. People other than me seem to know a whole lot more about that account than me. All I saw on the account was either public knowledge (names in public domain) or commentary/interpretation on affairs, but maybe I am overlooking something. The twitter seems to have made a very small splash - except for English Wikipedia (probably most of its readership?) - where ARBCOM handed down a decision against me. Icewhiz (talk) 06:27, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Let's keep it simple, because "I have never confirmed this twitter account was mine" is ambiguous. Please say clearly: "This was not my Twitter account" if you want to deny the association. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 06:46, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying to discuss this directly with ARBCOM, and do not wish to discuss this with you here. Icewhiz (talk) 06:51, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, if you do not want to say whether this Twitter was or wasn't yours, and keep this air of mystery around, go ahead. But I have a different question: do you think that the person who posted those tweets should apologize to the editors who where harassed (and their families, who were mentioned in a number of tweets)? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 07:04, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That would depend on the content of the tweets in question and whether they were factually accurate or not. A list of offending tweets was not presented to me. All I know is that I was accused of running the REDACTED account, but I wasn't told which tweets in particular were offensive. As for your question, if the tweets were factually inaccurate or revealing truly non-public information - yes - an apology would be in order. Icewhiz (talk) 07:12, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
