Could someone make a set of (vÜSTBl

Hi, I updated (uextdKRZtu

pHST jade
Hi, I have found ways to work around all but one of my Routemap complications and I’m almost ready to release it for public view on a Wikipedia page. Could you please make a bypassed jade station? That's the only missing piece I need. Thank you! (I think I wrote the following map correctly but I do not have a preview)

I noticed (KRW+l blue

Thank you! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 03:07, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
I know I sent a request less than five minutes ago, but after doing another test, I noticed that (KRWl pink

exist. Could these two please be done too? Sorry for not including it originally, and thanks! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 03:12, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, I got the name wrong. I was originally enquiring about the missing masks on BSicon/Catalogue/others2#Masks. @Useddenim, I looked through the BSicon catalogue for that one and couldn't find it. -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 19:58, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

I have already used the existing (SHI1+l violet

Those are perfect! Thank you! Sorry for not giving you existing icons the first time. This type of editing is well above my skill set so I was struggling. The only other things I need are "pHST jade" and "pHST lavender" (bypassed stations) which I can confirm do not currently exist. The rest of my project is complete enough to more or less understand. Missing letter/numbers icons
On page BSicon/Catalogue/others2#Summary there are a lot of missing icons. I'm in particular after "A" & "B" for use on Southern Cross railway station as the platforms are numbered 1, 2A-8A, 2B-8B, 8S, 9-14, 15A-16A, 15B-16B (see Southern Cross-Station Map) -- ThylacineHunter (talk) 02:23, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Done I filled out all the existing letters in any of the five positions left, right, top, bottom, center, or rotated 90°. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 05:24, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- Excellent job! -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 18:19, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
- I got snowed in today, so I'll tackle the numbers as well. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 18:27, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- I've been going wild on these since I've been stuck at home with a very mild case of Covid. I'm just wondering if there are use cases for just having the full alphabet available, and whether there are any accented characters that should be included as well - I'm thinking of possibly German "Ü" for upper-level platforms, or something like that. New icon
Hello, i'm a beginig wiki editor. I've created and uploaded two files I wish could become BSicons (created them during working on some routemap). As I sed I'm a beginer and I'm looking for your review and maby making thse files BSicons (functional, possible to use in routemap templates; I do not know how it is done, I'm not good in computer science). I would be greatful for any feedback!
The files:
Antoni12345 (talk) 14:10, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Antoni12345: Thank you for your efforts. I have a few comments:
- The convention for BSicon files is to license them as {{PD-shape}} as they are generally extremely simple;
d
BSicons are half-width (250 pixels wide × 500 pixels tall);- Inkscape creates extremely bloated svg code: using a text editor will produce valid files a fraction of the size;
- I have changed their category from the general Category:BSicon/railway to Category:BSicon/experimental. Ultimately they should be in Category:Icons for railway descriptions/walkway or a subcat, but the naming issue should be resolved first (see (
dBL3+1-
) (d-BL3+1
) (dBL2+4-
) & (d-BL2+4
) for the correct diagonal BL icons)
- Useddenim (talk) 02:46, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
@Tuvalkin:
- Oh, I have nothing to say, other than a generic welcome to Antoni12345 and agreement with the points raised by Useddenim above. -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 09:38, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- I forgot to add, there mere fact of naming a file using the BSicon conventions and placing it in the appropriate category(s) makes it "functional"; if you could add it to the correct BSicon/Catalogue page that would be even better. Useddenim (talk) 03:04, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for feedback. I've changed licensing as it's the only one thing I've managed to do. About the naming, after reading naming convention on BSicon/Catalogue I'm not shure how I am supposed to name it. Please if you can give me direct instructions. As for the SVG coding, I'm not familiar with it and I am not able to take up on learning it at the moment. I can take up proper categorising (Category:Icons for railway descriptions/walkway as you mentioned) and adding it to the catalogue, but as I understood it can be only done after oyher ishues are fixed. Antoni12345 (talk) 13:15, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- You've actually created a bit of a conundrum, as the issue of how to name a half-width image on a full-width icon has never been addressed. These icons give the same result: (
lv-INT@F
※lvINT@G-
※tvSTRq
※MASKll+rr
※BL2+4
) . Useddenim (talk) 20:28, 15 March 2023 (UTC)- As I see it, this is not a conundrum: a
d
-wide icon recanvased into a_
-wide frame is not something that we should really be “in the market” for, as icons are primarily meant to connect with each other. - But, if really needed, of course we can take up your own suggestion above (excellent {{BS-o}} work, by the way!) and name this
MASKll+rr+BL2+4

- @Useddenim: I kind of did these down and dirty by just applying some transforms to the code from (
tkSTR3+la
). What are your feelings on leaving it at that vs. going in and creating direct path definitions? The problem I run into is when I'm working with SVG arc commands, I get turned around a lot and can't figure out how to rotate the center of the arc to the right position. It's why whenever you see my new code for BSicon geometry, it always uses cubic bézier splines - my history with font creation makes these incredibly intuitive to me. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 18:49, 23 April 2023 (UTC)- @Vanisaac: I prefer plain paths rather than using transformations: it makes it easier to create derivative icons down the road. Mirroring is easy (just subtract values from 500); rotations also require swapping x & y values. Also, personally I'm comfortable with Bézier curves, but the decision was made that—except for SHIfts and non-navigable waterways—rail icons should use geometric arcs and ellipses wherever possible. Diagonal elevated road corners
Hi, I was wondering if elevated corners exist for diagonal road icons. I found icons like (RP4c1
) but not " (hRP4c1
)" or anything similar. But on the other hand, both (RP42+4
) and (hRP42+4
) exist. I tried replicating elevated corners with various railway icons but could not get anything to fit. Could someone please create elevated corners to match the 4-lane diagonal roads? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 02:51, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

Okay, I was not understanding properly, sorry about that. My opinion about this kind of issues is that there should not be any (or almost any) allowance for deficient visibility at 20px high that compromises the wider BSicon conventions — no bigger wye holes, no tortured geometries, and surely no 50px wide “half” tracks.
If visibility is needed, then BSicon users should either create special diagrams with bigger icons (that’s what the "s" in "svg" means — scalable) or keep the usual 20px high size but use more cells of the diagram to illustrate the sough layout — in the case at hand this could be done in a 1+½ width: .
And that’s my opinion. -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 23:56, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- That could work, just need (
vABZgl+xl-
) not (vABZgxl+l-

- I am completely on board with staying with conventions. The problem is that there are actually competing conventions here. The use of 60px diverging lines is a minor BSicon convention that is used everywhere you have this type of through and tee in parallel lines. You can see it in (
umvSTR-ABZgl+l
), (vABZgl+l
), and (uvKRZlr+lr
) to name a few I found just perusing the category tree. I don't support unilaterally upending that convention without a proper conversation with all interested parties, especially those who use those BSicons to indicate specific track geometries in articles like en:Nilambur–Shoranur line. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 04:15, 6 June 2023 (UTC)- I am not saying that this «minor convention» should be upended, just that I personally do not implement it in diagrams created by me, as a BSicon user, and wont work on icons dipicting it, as a BSicon creator. -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 02:01, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

So, in theory, if you want to swap colors in something that’s named mv

Of course the refers to the main bahn red color and the dark blue u

They would be useful for three-lane carriageways like freeways/expressways and (sub)urban arterials ("stroads" if you wish). AlphaBeta135talk 16:18, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
Parallel mixed continuation arrows
Hi, I'm trying to create a routemap for a line where a bus rapid transit route has been added alongside the railway. I notice that there are no mixed parallel-track continuation arrows in the catalogue.
I'd be looking for (vCONT2+4
) with the lower arrow blue (equivalently, (uvCONT2+4
) with the upper arrow red). I'm still figuring out the naming, so not sure what it would be called! Thank you so much in advance. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 14:36, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- You can stack two icons to get . The red one is (
vCONT2+4~l
) and the blue one is (uvCONT2+4~r
). Hope this helps. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 16:52, 5 December 2023 (UTC)- Thank you so much; I really appreciate it! I had no idea :)) IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 01:05, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

Flip icon 90 degrees to be horizontal
Hi! I was wondering if it would be possible to have this icon, (vRP2BHF
), flipped 90 degrees to be horizontal. Thank you! —-OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 08:09, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, it’s (
vRP2BHFq
). -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 14:14, 4 January 2024 (UTC)- Thank you! I unfortunately don't know how to flip it myself, since I'm new to BSicon, so I believe that I'll need some help. --OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 21:54, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Rotating icons is definitely my Achilles' Heel, as I have demonstrated beforehand with another curved road icon, but I looked at your project and I think (
vRP2BHF3+1
) could work as a possible substitute. I opened (vRP2BHF
) in the text editor and made no progress. Hopefully the diagonal icon does help. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 22:47, 4 January 2024 (UTC)- Enclose the whole thing in a

Convert tunnel(s) to regular icon(s)
Hi! I am unfortunately not proficient enough in BSicon coding, so I will need some help yet again. I don't really need it, but it would be wonderful if someone could convert (utbvSHI5gr-~L
) into (ubvSHI5gr-~L
). Additionally, I think it would be great if the rest of this particular broad set could also be converted into regular icons, even if I don't necessarily need them myself. I think they'll be great for simplifying many route diagram templates. Thank you! --OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 03:41, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- This really could not be easier. Just remove the "stroke-dasharray" and its values, and you'll have solid double lines. Remove the
<def>...</def>
and<mask>...</mask>
tags, everything in between, and the "mask" in the parameter and it will turn them into full solid lines. That's it. Nothing to add, just remove the stuff making dashes and the double line. And as long as it's a simple hand built icon instead of an inscape SVG with all the extraneous junk in it, it should work on any of those icons you want to adapt. VanIsaac (en.wiki) 08:44, 13 January 2024 (UTC)- Ah, I see, thank you so much! --OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 08:50, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
Tunnel version of icons
Hi! Can someone help me create the tunnel versions of these icons: (bSTR
), (vCONTfgaq
), and (vCONTfgeq
) by any chance? Thank you! OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 01:54, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Can you send a link to the diagram where you intend to use these? (Also, I think (
bSTR
) in particular could be substituted with (tSTR
) sandwiched between (d
) icons.) Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 04:09, 25 January 2024 (UTC)- For (
bSTR
), I was trying to use it on the templates for the individual lines for the en:DART Light Rail system, most recently on the one for the DART Blue Line template on the broad bridge over water icons ( (hbKRZW
)), specifically to show line overlaps (Blue and Red, etc.), though I can definitely see this being applied across a broad variety of other templates as well. For (vCONTfgaq
) and (vCONTfgeq
), I wanted to use them both on the Houston METRORail Red Line template to show the overlapping Green and Purple lines. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 07:54, 25 January 2024 (UTC)- @OrdinaryScarlett: For (
hbKRZW
), the overlaying problem you mentioned can be solved with (v-WASSERq
)\ (hKRZW
)\ (vWASSERq-
). (dWASSERq
) also works but does not look as neat, and (in my experience) would only be preferable with diagrams that are 2 icons wide. Hope this helps. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 04:16, 26 January 2024 (UTC)- @Hotdog with ketchup: Thanks! I guess I don't need to use a broad water crossing icon. The only thing that bugs me are that it wouldn't be possible to overlay with the Dallas Streetcar and road undercrossings without looking good (this goes for all DART Light Rail lines). Oh well, I guess I can't always expect perfection, haha. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 06:01, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

- There's a couple more that I'd like to request by any chance; the tunnel versions for (
bSHI2lr
) and (bSHI2+lr
)? I wouldn't mind learning how to make these myself, haha, but yeah I need some help. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 09:55, 26 January 2024 (UTC)- @OrdinaryScarlett: (
tbSHI2lr
) already exists, so I used that to make (tbSHI2+lr
). But now that it has been uploaded, I must confess it looks like something went wrong; I am noticing some asymmetry. Perhaps using (tBS2l

)\ (tBS2+r
) may yield better results. Sorry about that. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 21:05, 26 January 2024 (UTC)- @OrdinaryScarlett: Unrelated to the shifts, I found (
utvCONTfgaq
) and (utvCONTfgeq
) already uploaded. They should only require recoloring and the "u" prefix removed. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 21:09, 26 January 2024 (UTC)- Thank you so much for your help for everything! I just feel bad for repeatedly asking since I'm finding out there's more that I need, but these actually should be the last two I need; tunneled versions of (
SPLa.F
) and (SPLe.G
). Thanks again! OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 06:50, 27 January 2024 (UTC)- @OrdinaryScarlett: No problem, and don't feel too bad. There was a time when I thought (
CONT1+f orange
) was the only new icon I would ever need. I was very wrong. In fact I might even make a request later if I have enough trouble with the text editor. That is just the way things work with these icons. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 09:53, 27 January 2024 (UTC)- Thanks, I appreciate it. Funny how you mention this as I just realized that it may possibly be good to have regular and tunneled BHF variants of (
pKHSTe
) and (pKHSTa
), haha. This’ll be firmly out of my league for now since I’d imagine it’d be at this point creating them from scratch. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 10:54, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Four quarters version of five quarters icon
Hi! I was curious if it would be possible to derive a four quarters version of (ubvSHI5gr-~L

single-tile elevated structures around major stations
Just like how (lhBHFae
) provides a single elevated structure around a station starting and ending on one tile, can we get a variant to use with horizontal and diagonal? i.e. able to work with (BHFq

New half-width road icons
Hello! I was looking for versions of the icons (dSKRZ-Eo(Rr)

SKRZ-G4o(Rr)
) and (SKRZ-G4o(Ll)
). OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 19:38, 27 February 2024 (UTC)- @OrdinaryScarlett: If you just want to decrease the gap between the two rail lines, you can do that already by writing
d!~SKRZ-G4o(Rr)\SKRZ-G4o(Ll)
, which squeezes the two icons into the space of one and a half icons. Jc86035 (talk) 08:28, 28 February 2024 (UTC)- Ah, I see, thank you!
