Same files, same methods, same articles as below per this edit.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 04:40, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New info: Similar interest in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DOKZzbuJQA per this edit by Xoaw and this edit by Naisq.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 03:13, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeff G.: see, now you're playing whack-a-mole. Told ya. I'm not sure if Naisq will even be related. The link is quite a coincidence, but it might be just that: a coincidence. I'm sure a CU will confirm it though, and you'll be on to find the next mole to whack. Whatever floats your boat. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 09:33, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As usual, evidence can be shared privately as Sol-lol will probably read this, but it's fairly obvious. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 19:06, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Elcobbola: Can you have a look, as you handled previous cases with this user? Thank you. --Krd 17:50, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If it's going to me, I'd say procedurally Declined. As I've explained to Alexis Jazz before, for this very case (!!!), presentation of evidence is mandatory [1] and can be emailed if necessary [2]. RfCU is not a process for CUs to build cases for requestors (see the very explicit instructions at COM:RFCU). Further, if a case is "fairly obvious," a CU is not needed. Yet again: "Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases. Use other methods first." (There is a reason the {{Duck}} is under the "Requested declined" header in the {{CheckUser indicators}} template, transcluded at COM:RFCU). Эlcobbola talk 19:13, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Elcobbola: I was just waiting for a CU to say "I'm willing to take this case, mail me the evidence please". Doesn't seem sensible for me to mail a random CU. I'll collect the evidence and mail it you. Most of it was in my head and has faded, but I should be able to dig up enough.
Please also note that Eduardosalg, bureaucrat/sysop on eswiki, also requested a CU on eswiki and Incnis Mrsi also noted the similarities. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 06:06, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Elcobbola and Krd: Hay relación sí. He bloqueado la ip que da origen a las cuentas. Saludos. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 17:10, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and yet again: obvious cases do not require a CU. "Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases. Use other methods first." Duck socks of serial abusers, like Sol-lol, can be reported at ANU. Werxa is blocked and there are no sleepers, so this is ✓ Done. Эlcobbola talk 18:09, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Elcobbola: some of the evidence I mailed you is recent. When I filed this request, I personally knew it had to be Sol-lol. But at that moment, it may not have been enough to declare duck. For clarity, "fairly obvious" were the reasons why a CU was justified (at least for those who are familiar with this puppeteer). - Alexis Jazz ping plz 18:31, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: No idea why nothing happened? Also for E55r8 elcobbola has some proof now, I can provide more if needed. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 08:43, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • "nothing happened?" - This was ✓ Done below. Sleepers would have been found during the check. If you have additional evidence related to an unmentioned account, you need to actually provide it; we all have email enabled if you are concerned about privacy or BEANS. Эlcobbola talk 14:26, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Elcobbola: so this kind of socking is allowed? In that case there was no reason to do the CU in the first place. I already gave you the info for E55r8 on your talk, I asked if it was enough. If it is, that'll be that, if not, I will organize some more. Unless, of course, this kind of socking is allowed. There will be no point in confirming more socks if nothing is done about them. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 14:46, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to misunderstand the CU process/purpose:
"Show what the disruption to the project is, and why you believe the accounts are related" (COM:RFCU)
You did not do the former (or, really, the latter). I ran the check because the timing or past edits and warnings was sufficient to suggest the possibility of use of alternative accounts to avoid scruity. Note this speaks only to the reason to run the check and is not a determination of disruption.
"Alternative accounts are not forbidden." (Meta CheckUser policy)
The check indeed found the accounts are technically related, but, as per above, you have not presented, and I did not find, disruption (I may well have missed it; but, again, the onus is on you to demonstrate it). Multiple accounts are discouraged, but allowed, as long as they are not being used disruptively. Their mere use is not disruption; disruption, rather, would be something like related accounts participating at Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Ixqeo, which has not happened. The accounts have never been blocked, so sanctions are not being evaded. Etc.
"Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases. Use other methods first." (COM:RFCU)
Checkuser is a mere data exercise, it is not COM:AN/ANU-lite. Because CUs are also admins, we often block confirmed accounts when disruption is obvious. This is not something inherent to the CU process itself. If you think administrative action is necessary (e.g., have diffs supporting disruption), the correct action would be to post at COM:AN/ANU--and certainly not to reopen a completed RfCU.
If you have evidence of disruptive use of multiple accounts, start a thread at the appropriate noticeboard and like to this RfCU and indeed its confirmed finding. Эlcobbola talk 14:58, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I guess I misunderstood as usually sanctions are directly carried out with the CU. I will start a thread on ANU. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 19:10, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rationale, discussion and results

[edit]

Reason: An intermittent editor of es.Wikipedia with characteristic and easily recognizable editing style. Namely, his/her interest is almost entirely confined to celebrities of modern popular culture. These persons include:

Observed Wikipedia edits never add substantial information, but only insert copyvio pictures uploaded to Commons or transfer some things from Wikidata. On Commons the sock ring is known for uploading copyvio and, since mid-2017, for forging license records; hence, most socks are already blocked on Commons. The master doesn’t use each account for a long time. In Spanish Wikipedia also 92.187.90.58 was briefly used, but no respective IP edits were found on Commons. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 10:59, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
After more scrupulous analysis I’d separate accounts active in January 2017—namely, Purpledragon and Sol-lol—from all the socks registered since May 2017. I now deem Deerty2222 the first certain account from the ring which operates currently. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 13:14, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

On yet another thought, I mined a very strong evidence that Sol-lol and Deerty2222 are the same person – feel free to request it off-wiki. Whereas strong evidence linking Sol-lol with Purpledragon exists as well. Also, Sol-lol is 4 days older than Purpledragon – under whose name will we categorize socks? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 14:24, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Decided myself due to already existing Commons:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/Sol-lol. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 14:31, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Magog the Ogre: please, check IPs and an acc listed today (the first IP was already reported by ~riley). I have evidence that these Central European IPs are currently used: see es:Special:Contribs/185.156.172.132, es:Special:Contribs/37.28.152.245, es:Special:Contribs/Wusq. Likely each IP is a kind of proxy. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 11:02, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I believe Magog did not comment with respect to the IPs because for privacy reasons, checkusers will not connect IP addresses to accounts. In addition, neither IP has edited on Commons. I have additionally blocked Frutillito125 and had 37.28.152.245 blocked in a global range block. 185.156.172.132 has been blocked for 1 year as an open proxy locally in the event the user attempts to use it here. ~riley (talk) 02:48, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Frutillito125 then lead me to Frutillitos125 and FrankBips. ~riley (talk) 03:04, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
They are likely identical to each other, but not to Sol-lol. FrankBips speaks English and edits en.Wikipedia. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 11:20, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Moreover, here we see changes of multiple fields with each one edit and edit warring without any edits summary. Where are Sol-lol’s characteristic “Puse imagen al articulo” and “Puse una foto a la plantilla”? And here we see some copyright discourse – did anybody see Sol-lol discussing digital rights? @~riley: please, fix the nonsense in user: pages of these accs and diminish your confirmation bias for next hunts. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 15:51, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
These are not based on my own speculation but rather steward findings. Please assume good faith rather than label actions as confirmation bias. I merely tagged, it is clear now that these findings are technically indistinguishable in nature and not connected to each other but rather using the same open proxies. I will adjust the user pages accordingly when I have a chance to do so, or you can do so yourself if the “nonesense” is so unbearable. ~riley (talk) 16:28, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Same interwiki project footprint
  • Same types of copyright violations here on Commons
  • Similar idiosyncrasies in phraseology and punctuation in edit summaries on Spanish Wikipedia
  • Use of PNG files for photos (probably because they're screenshots)
  • Active in the same articles on Spanish Wikipedia (see above)

I'm expecting the sockmaster and the first two sockpuppets to be stale, but behaviourally, they're obvious ducks, so listing them for completeness and comparison. LX (talk, contribs) 13:10, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
