Unclear copyright status and unlikely CC-whatever (taken from a hobby site), {{PD-old}} (on which base?) and/or "own [derivated] works", considering recent (1988 + ...) banknotes of Lebanon. They may be in public domain by other means but relevant info must be provided.

Hi, the File:5000 livres libannaises.png file is my very own work and I can update the copyright according wikimedia needs. Please tell me which one is needed. I will be pleased to update it. ThArGos (talk) 09:49, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please read COM:DW to understand the copyright issue. Gunnex (talk) 20:31, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it is related to the copyright of the banknotes themselves? I will read this tonight and try to figure the problem. Is it related to the age of the banknotes (< 100 years)? Does this really apply in Lebanon? I am note sure they have the same laws as in the US regarding this. Do you have any hints regarding this please? Thanks for the link though. Sorry if I ask stupid questions but I am a total newbie@wikimedia. Best regards. ThArGos (talk) 13:55, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I really don't understand the procedure here but anyway. Why are you deleting only the banknotes and not the coins? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:2015-06-06_11-23-31_monnaie.jpg and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:100LL.jpg It just doesn't make any sense. I have reviewed the link given by Gunnex (COM:DW) and there are no mentions regarding foreign currencies. I have searched the web for some informations regarding the banknotes of this country but knowing the country I would have been very surprised to find something. So indeed there is nothing regarding the copyright of the currency. Isn't there any kind of authorization when no information can be found? It's bit sad to see these files disappear like that. I really ask the question with honest sincerity since I am a newbie on these topics. Any information will be greatly appreciated. In the mean time I guess I will add a link to websites showing lebanese banknotes. Thanks for your concern. ThArGos (talk) 20:33, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@ThArGos: this is a double problem I think... -1/ the printer is De La Rue of London, very strict on the copyright -2/ all images of banknotes from modern Lebanon shall be copy here "cancelled" or "specimen" marked and on a very low definition scale scan, in order to avoid any trouble with the concerned authorities... Well, this is what I think, but I am not 100 % sure, please double checked next time --Marc-AntoineV (talk) 09:52, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
