English: Sewamono (世話物) is a genre of kabuki dramas founded in 1703, dealing with "[contemporary] society topics" (世間話題, sekan wadai), i.e. non-fantastic stories of common people set in recent times. Compare and contrast with jidaimono, which are typically set in far-off centuries and feature characters of legend, famous historical figures, warlords, and aristocrats.
