Polski Fiat 126p produced between 1973 and 1978 was the first production version of this car. First examples were assembled entirely from Italian parts and as the production continued the percentage of parts produced locally increased. The Polski Fiat 126p automobiles produced in that time period can be recognized by the chrome parts, most notably the bumpers (note that there are some examples with black bumpers however they retain the characteristic simple shape) but also the rear-view mirror (though not every example still has it), air intake grills (though some examples have plastic ones), the 126p badge as well as between 1977 and 1978 the engine version badge (600 or 650), etc. It is also shorter then the next production version. It was produced in two engine versions 600 (powered by a 594 cc engine) and 650 (powered by a 652 cc engine, this version was produced between 1977 and 1978).
