Hello, thanks for your great map. You may take a look to user:Sting and User:MapMaster's maps, and notice them your interesting work :]. Good luck to you. 220.135.4.212 18:56, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the praise. Part of it rightly goes to the german wikipedia's Kartenwerkstatt who helped me with improving it. --Hk kng 14:37, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

It doesn't work in Firefox either: all of the text is shown as if x="50" and y="50". - Erik Baas (talk) 16:28, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you look around, I am sure you will find a lot of renderers that have problems here. (Even Opera until v 9.10, look for test results text-text-04-t to text-text-06-t at http://www.codedread.com/svg-support-table.html) For the purposes of Wikimedia, librsvg is what we need to have in our view. Incidentally, this was produced for a german FAQ about rendering problems. --Hk kng (talk) 22:54, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, and thank you; I read some more about this problem (and some others as well), unfortunately after I wrote my message to you... ;-) My point is: I check all of my SVG-development in Firefox, so I wouldn't have used this syntax anyway. ;-) - Erik Baas (talk) 00:16, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sehr schöne Wahlkarten! / Very nice maps!

Nautical icons

Hello Hk kng. Last year you have made quite a number of symbols for nautical charts. I would like to ad some and have found IHO PUBLICATION S-52 APPENDIX 2. Is this the publication you used, or is there a better one? Regards, BoH (talk) 06:27, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that is exactly the source (for the ECDIS variant). Incidentally, the link is on every description page: IHO Publication S-52 Appendix 2: Addendum to annex A, part I, users´ manual. Edition 3.4 (2008): Paper based description of symbols for use on ECDIS. For paper charts, IHO's Symbols, abbreviations and terms used on charts, 4th edition, 2006 is the relevant standard. --Hk kng (talk) 10:35, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Hk kng!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
