A new scheme to produce muon beams characterised by very low emittance, in such a way to avoid the need for cooling, using a positron beam of about 45 GeV interacting on electrons on target is being studied by our group. This scheme is challenging and innovative, and needs a full design study to be developed. [...]

Muon Accumulator Ring Requirements for a Low Emittance Muon Collider from Positrons on Target

Very low emittance muon beams can be produced by direct annihilation of about 45~GeV positrons on atomic electrons in a thin target. With such a muon beam source, a mu+mu- collider can be designed in the multi-TeV range at very high luminosities. [...]

The DAΦNE collider has been recently upgraded in order to implement a new collision scheme based on large Piwinski angle and cancellation of the synchro-betatron resonances by means of electromagnetic sextupoles (Crab-Waist compensation). The novel approach has proved to be effective in improving beam-beam interaction and collider luminosity. [...]

The SuperB international team continues to optimize the design of an electron-positron collider, which will allow the enhanced study of the origins of flavor physics. The project combines the best features of a linear collider (high single-collision luminosity) and a storage-ring collider (high repetition rate), bringing together all accelerator physics aspects to make a very high luminosity of 1036 cm-2 s-1. A special session at eeFACT’22 reviewed the electrical power budgets and luminosity risks for eight proposed future Higgs and electroweak factories (CCC, CEPC, CERC, CLIC, FCC-ee, HELEN, ILC, and RELIC) and, in comparison, for a lepton-hadron collider (EIC) presently under construction. We report highlights of presentations and discussions..

Muon Collider Based on Gamma Factory, FCC-ee and Plasma Target
/ Zimmermann, Frank (CERN) ; Antonelli, Mario (Frascati) ; Blondel, Alain (Geneva U.) ; Boscolo, Manuela (Frascati) ; Farmer, John (CERN) ; Latina, Andrea (CERN)
The LEMMA-type muon collider generates muon pairs by the annihilation of 45 GeV positrons with electrons at rest. Due to the small cross section, an extremely high rate of positrons is required, which could be achieved by a ’Gamma factory’ based on the LHC. [...]
