Initial Estimate of Fringe Field Effects in HL-LHC using Frequency Map Analysis / Jones, Sam (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Newton, David (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Wolski, Andrzej (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
The planned High Luminosity upgrade to the LHC will require stronger focusing of the beam in the interaction regions. To achieve this, the inner triplet quadrupoles will be replaced with new magnets having larger gradient and aperture. [...]

Applying the 'Simple Accelerator Modelling in Matlab' (SAMM) Code to High Luminosity LHC Upgrade / Hock, Kai M (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Wolski, Andrzej (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Appleby, Robert (Manchester U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
The "Simple Accelerator Modelling in Matlab" (SAMM) code is a set of Matlab routines for modelling beam dynamics in high energy particle accelerators. It includes a set of CUDA codes that can be run on a Graphics Processor Unit. [...]

Tracking Studies in the LHeC Lattice / Cruz Alaniz, Emilia (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Newton, David (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN)
The Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) is a proposed upgrade of the LHC to provide electron-proton collisions and explore a new regime of energy and luminosity for nucleon-lepton scattering. A nominal design has previously been presented, featuring a lattice and optical configuration to focus one of the proton beams of the LHC (reaching a value of β*=10 cm) and to collide it head-on with an electron beam to produce collisions with the desired luminosity of L=10³³ cm⁻² s⁻¹. [...]

LHeC IR Optics Design Integrated into the HL-LHC Lattice / Cruz Alaniz, Emilia (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Korostelev, Maxim (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Newton, David (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN)
The LHeC is a proposed upgrade to the LHC to provide electron-proton collisions and explore the new regime of energy and intensity for lepton-nucleon scattering. The work presented here investigates optics and layout solutions allowing simultaneous nucleon-nucleon and lepton-nucleon collisions at separate interaction points compatible with the proposed HL-LHC lattice. 3D Tracking Methods in a GEANT4 Environment Through Electrostatic Beamlines / Hunt, James (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Resta-López, Javier (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; U. Liverpool (main)) ; Rodin, Volodymyr (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Veglia, Bianca (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Welsch, Carsten (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
Due to the relatively infrequent use of electrostatic beamline elements compared with their magnetic counterparts, there are few particle tracking codes which allow for the straightforward implementation of such beamlines. In this contribution, we present 3D tracking methods for beamlines containing electrostatic elements utilising a modified version of the Geant4 based tracking code 'G4beamline'. [...]

Quality and Stability Studies of the Beams in the ELENA Ring Transfer Lines / Hunt, James (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Karamyshev, Oleg (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Resta-López, Javier (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Welsch, Carsten (Liverpool U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton (ELENA) ring will provide seven different experiments at CERN with cooled beams of low energy (~100 keV) antiprotons. As a result, a system of transfer lines is being designed to ensure that each experiment receives a beam with its required properties. [...]

Beam Loss Monitors (BLMs) based on optical fibres have been under development for many years as an alternative solution to commonly used methods, such as ionisation chambers. Optical BLMs (oBLMs) maintain standard BLM functionality but can also be used for machine and personal protection. [...]
