Systematic studies of the microbunching and weak instability at short bunch lengths / Brosi, M (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Blomley, E (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Boltz, T (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Bründermann, E (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Caselle, M (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Gethmann, J (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Kehrer, B (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Papash, A.I. (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Rota, L (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Schönfeldt, P (KIT, Karlsruhe) et al.
At KARA, the Karlsruhe Research Accelerator of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology synchrotron, the so-called short-bunch operation mode allows the reduction of the bunch length down to a few picoseconds. The microbunching instability resulting from the high degree of longitudinal compression leads to fluctuations in the emitted terahertz radiation. [...]

Precise determination of the center-of-mass energy in the Future Circular Collider e+e- (FCC-ee) at Z and W energies can be achieved by employing resonant spin depolarization techniques, for which a sufficient level of transverse beam polarization is demanded under the presence of machine imperfections. In this study, the FCC-ee lattice has been modeled and simulated with a variety of realistic lattice imperfections, including misalignments, angular deviations, BPM errors, long-range errors, etc., along with refined orbit correction and tune matching procedures.
