Detecting Elastic pp Scattering by Radiative Photons in CMS at the LHC / Gronqvist, H. (Helsinki U.) ; Khoze, V.A. (Durham U., IPPP) ; Lamsa, J.W. (Iowa State U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Murray, M. (Kansas U.) ; Orava, R. (Helsinki U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.)
Photon bremsstrahlung is studied for identifying elastic proton-proton interactions in the CMS experiment at the LHC. In addition to measurement of the elastic pp cross section (assuming that the elastic slope is known) the bremsstrahlung photons will allow evaluation of the total pp cross section, luminosity and alignment of the Zero Degree Calorimeters (ZDCs)..

Forward Physics at the LHC: Detecting Elastic pp Scattering by Radiative Photons / Khoze, V A (Durham U., IPPP) ; Lämsä, J W (Iowa State U. ; Helsinki U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Orava, R (Helsinki U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Ryskin, M G (St. Petersburg, INP)
Photon bremsstrahlung is proposed to be used to identify elastic proton-proton interactions at the LHC. In addition to a measurement of the elastic pp cross section (assuming that the elastic slope is known), the bremsstrahlung photons will allow the evaluation of the total pp cross section, luminosity and to align the Zero Degree Calorimeters (ZDCs)..

A new approach to modelling elastic and inelastic photon-initiated production at the LHC: SuperChic 4 / Harland-Lang, L.A. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Tasevsky, M. (Prague, Inst. Phys.) ; Khoze, V.A. (Durham U., IPPP ; St. Petersburg, INP) ; Ryskin, M.G. (St. Petersburg, INP)
We present the results of the new SuperChic 4 Monte Carlo implementation of photon-initiated production in proton-proton collisions, considering as a first example the case of lepton pair production. This is based on the structure function calculation of the underlying process, and focusses on a complete account of the various contributing channels, including the case where a rapidity gap veto is imposed. Status of TOTEM / Ferro, F (U. Genoa (main))
The TOTEM experiment (total cross section, elastic scattering and diffraction dissociation at the LHC) will measure the total pp cross section at the LHC by measuring separately the elastic and inelastic rate. The TOTEM experimental apparatus consists of two inelastic telescopes and two Roman Pot stations equipped with the leading proton detectors. [...]

Results of the CMS-CASTOR very-forward calorimeter in pp collisions at 13 TeV / Van Haevermaet, Hans (Antwerp U.) /CMS Collaboration
A brief summary of physics results from proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV at the LHC achieved with data from the forward CMS-CASTOR calorimeter is presented. This includes measurements of the inelastic cross section, forward energy flow spectra, and inclusive jet cross sections..

Forward Physics / Avati, V (CERN ; Case Western Reserve U.)
Forward Physics measurements at the LHC start will be done by TOTEM, LHCf, and by the forward calorimeters of ATLAS (ZDC) and CMS (CASTOR, ZDC) at moderate luminosities. These detectors will measure the forward particle production and energy flow also relevant for cosmic ray experiments, and low-x QCD processes. [...]

Measuring Photons and Neutrons at Zero Degrees in CMS / CMS Collaboration
The CMS Zero Degree Calorimeters, ZDCs, will measure photons and neutrons emitted with |eta|> 8.6 from Pb+Pb, p+Pb and p+p collisions at sqrt(Snn)=5.5, 8.8 and 14 TeV respectively. The calorimeter consists of an electromagnetic part segmented in the horizontal direction and an hadronic part segmented into four units in depth. [...]

Very forward measurements at the LHC / Berretti, Mirko (Helsinki U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) /CMS and TOTEM Collaborations
In this talk we present a selection of forward physics results recently obtained with the run-1 and run-2 LHC data by the CMS, LHCf and TOTEM experiments. The status of the very forward LHC proton spectrometer, CT-PPS, is discussed: emphasis is given to the physics potential of CT-PPS and to the analyses that are currently ongoing with the data collected in 2016.
