Performance of a resistive micro-well detector with capacitive-sharing strip anode readout / Gnanvo, Kondo (Virginia U.) ; Liyanage, Nilanga (Virginia U.) ; Mehl, Bertrand (CERN) ; de Oliveira, Rui (CERN)
The present study is carried out to demonstrate a new type of high-performance readout structure with low readout channel count developed for large-area micro pattern gaseous detectors. The structure exploits capacitive coupling between a vertical stack of 5μm thick copper pad layers sandwiched between 50μm thick polyimide foils to simultaneously transfer and spread the avalanche charges from the gaseous detector’s amplification structure to several strips or pads in the anode readout plane. Performance of a triple-GEM detector with capacitive-sharing 3-coordinate (X–Y–U)-strip anode readout / Gnanvo, Kondo (Jefferson Lab) ; Lee, Seung Joon (Jefferson Lab) ; Mehl, Bertrand (CERN) ; de Oliveira, Rui (CERN) ; Weisenberger, Andrew (Jefferson Lab)
The concept of capacitive-sharing readout, described in detail in a previous study, offers the possibility for the development of high-performance three-coordinates (X-Y-U)-strip readout for Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs) using simple standard PCB fabrication techniques. Capacitive-sharing (X-Y-U)-strip readout allows simultaneous measurement of the Cartesian coordinates x and y of the position of the particles together with a third coordinate u along the diagonal axis in a single readout PCB. 2-D imaging with cascaded GEM/MHSP multipliers / Maia, J M ; Mörmann, D ; Breskin, Amos ; Chechik, R ; Veloso, J F C A ; Dos Santos, J M F
The imaging properties of cascaded-GEM (Gas Electron Multiplier) and cascaded-GEM/MHSP (Micro-Hole and Strip Plate) gaseous electron multipliers, equipped with 2-D Wedge & Strip (W&S;) readout electrodes, are presented. The W&S; electrode was capacitively coupled to the electron multiplier through a resistive electrode, to adapt the charge-cloud size to the 1.6 mm readout pitch. [...]

The WELL Detector / Bellazzini, R ; Bozzo, M ; Brez, A ; Gariano, G ; Latronico, L ; Lumb, N ; Papanestis, A ; Spandre, G ; Massai, M M ; Raffo, R et al.
We introduce the WELL detector, a new type of position-sensitive gas proportional counter produced using advanced printed circuit board (PCB) technology. The WELL is based on a thin kapton foil, copp erclad on both sides. [...]

The micro-RWELL detector for the phase-2 upgrade of the LHCb muon system / Bencivenni, G (Frascati) ; De Oliveira, R (CERN) ; Felici, G (Frascati) ; Gatta, M (Frascati) ; Giovannetti, M (Frascati ; INFN, Rome2) ; Morello, G (Frascati) ; Poli Lener, M (Frascati)
The micro-RWELL detector (μ-RWELL) is a single amplification stage resistive Micro Pattern Gaseous Detector (MPGD), based on a copper-clad polyimide foil patterned with a micro-well matrix coupled with the readout PCB through a DLC resistive film (10÷100MΩ/□). For the phase-2 upgrade of the LHCb experiment, proposed for the LHC Run-5, the excellent performance of the current muon detector will need to be maintained at 40 times the pile-up level experienced during Run-2. Performance of μ-RWELL detector vs resistivity of the resistive stage / Bencivenni, G (Frascati) ; De Oliveira, R (CERN) ; Felici, G (Frascati) ; Gatta, M (Frascati) ; Morello, G (Frascati) ; Ochi, A (Kobe U.) ; Lener, M Poli (Frascati) ; Tskhadadze, E (Frascati)
The $\mu$-RWELL is a compact spark-protected single amplification stage Micro-Pattern-Gaseous-Detector (MPGD). The detector amplification stage is realized with a polyimide structure, micro-patterned with a dense matrix of blind-holes, integrated into the readout structure. [...]

Results of the new MAPS-based ALICE inner tracker operations in the LHC Run 3 / Ravasenga, Ivan (CERN) /ALICE Collaboration
The new ALICE Inner Tracking System (ITS2), installed in ALICE in May 2021 during a major upgrade campaign, significantly enhances the resolution on the determination of the distance of closest approach to the primary vertex, the tracking efficiency at low transverse momenta, and the read-out rate capabilities with respect to the previous tracker. It is equipped with silicon Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) with a pixel size of 27 × 29 μm2, a spatial resolution of 5μm and it features a material budget of 0.36 % X0 (inner layers). [...]

ATLAS muon gaseous chamber technologies for a detector at the ILC / Naseri, Mohsen (Carleton University (CA)) /ATLAS Collaboration
The largest phase-1 upgrade project for the ATLAS Muon System at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the replacement of the present first station in the forward regions with the New Small Wheels (NSWs). The NSWs consist of two detector technologies: Large size multi-gap resistive strips Micromegas (MM) and small-strip Thin-Gap Chamber (sTGC). [...]

The micro-Resitive WELL (μ-RWELL) is a Micro Pattern Gas Detector (MPGD) that inherits some of the best characteristics of existing MPGDs, like GEMs and MicroMegas, while simplifying the detector construction. A significant progress towards large-scale applications has been achieved through the consolidation and industrial cost-effective manufacturing of this technology. [...]
