Silicon detectors for the sLHC / Affolder, A (Liverpool U.) ; Aleev, A (Moscow, ITEP) ; Allport, P P (Liverpool U.) ; Andricek, L (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Artuso, M (Syracuse U.) ; Balbuena, J P (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Barabash, L (Kiev, INR) ; Barber, T (Freiburg U.) ; Barcz, A (Inst. Electron Tech., Warsaw ; Warsaw, Inst. Phys. Chem.) ; Bassignana, D (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) et al.
In current particle physics experiments, silicon strip detectors are widely used as part of the inner tracking layers. A foreseeable large-scale application for such detectors consists of the luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the super-LHC or sLHC, where silicon detectors with extreme radiation hardness are required. Luminosity-Independent Measurement of the Proton-Proton Total Cross Section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV / TOTEM Collaboration
TOTEM has measured the proton-proton total cross-section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV using a luminosity independent method. In LHC fills with dedicated beam optics, the Roman Pots have been inserted very close to the beam allowing the detection of 90% of the nuclear elastic scattering events. [...]

Longitudinal double spin asymmetries in single hadron quasi-real photoproduction at high $p_T$ / COMPASS Collaboration
We measured the longitudinal double spin asymmetries $A_{LL}$ for single hadron muo-production off protons and deuterons at photon virtuality $Q^2$ < 1(GeV/$\it c$)$^2$ for transverse hadron momenta $p_T$ in the range 0.7 GeV/$\it c$ to 4 GeV/$\it c$ . They were determined using COMPASS data taken with a polarised muon beam of 160 GeV/$\it c$ or 200 GeV/$\it c$ impinging on polarised $\mathrm{{}^6LiD}$ or $\mathrm{NH_3}$ targets. [...]

A Pixel Vertex Tracker for the TESLA Detector / Battaglia, M. (CERN ; Helsinki U.) ; Borghi, S. (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Campagnolo, R. (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Caccia, M. In order to fully exploit the physics potential of a e+e- linear collider, such as TESLA, a Vertex Tracker providing high resolution track reconstruction is required. Hybrid Silicon pixel sensors are an attractive sensor technology option due to their read-out speed and radiation hardness, favoured in the high rate TESLA environment, but have been so far limited by the achievable single point space resolution [...]
