Towards an automated tool to evaluate the impact of the nuclear modification of the gluon density on quarkonium, D and B meson production in proton-nucleus collisions / Lansberg, Jean-Philippe (Orsay, IPN) ; Shao, Hua-Sheng (CERN)
We propose a simple and model-independent procedure to account for the impact of the nuclear modification of the gluon density as encoded in nuclear collinear PDF sets on two-to-two partonic hard processes in proton-nucleus collisions. This applies to a good approximation to quarkonium, D and B meson production, generically referred to H. [...]

Heavy gauge boson and photon production for initial state constraints with ALICE / Aziz, Sizar (speaker) (Université Paris-Saclay (FR))
The parton distribution functions of nuclei are not well constrained for most of the kinematic domain probed with heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. Direct photons in proton-nucleus, W and Z boson production in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC can be used to constrain the nuclear parton distribution functions. [...]

ALICE results on quarkonium production in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions / Bruno, Giuseppe Eugenio (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) /ALICE Collaboration
The study of quarkonia, bound states of heavy (charm or bottom) quark-antiquark pairs such as the J/psi or the Upsilon?, provides insight into the earliest and hottest stages of high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions where the formation of a Quark-Gluon Plasma is expected. High-precision data from proton-proton collisions represent an essential baseline for the measurement of nuclear modi?cations in nucleus-nucleus collisions and serve also as a crucial test for models of quarkonium hadroproduction. Centrality and rapidity dependence of inclusive jet production in $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=5.02$~TeV $p$+Pb collisions with the ATLAS detector / Perepelitsa, D V (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.)
Measurements of reconstructed jets in high-energy proton-nucleus collisions over a wide rapidity and transverse momentum range are a fundamental probe of the partonic structure of nuclei. [...]

Centrality and rapidity dependence of inclusive jet production in $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV proton--lead collisions with the ATLAS detector
The ATLAS Collaboration has measured the centrality and rapidity dependence of inclusive jet production in $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 5.02$ TeV proton-lead ($p$+Pb) collisions and the jet cross-section in $\sqrt{s} = 2.76$ TeV proton-proton collisions in datasets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $27.8$ nb$^{-1}$ and $4.0$ pb$^{-1}$, respectively, recorded at the Large Hadron Collider in 2013. Light meson nuclear modification factor in p-Pb collisions over an unprecedented transverse momentum range with ALICE / Schmidt, Nicolas (speaker) (ORNL)
Light meson measurements in high-energy proton-nucleus collisions provide a probe to study the physics of strongly interacting matter and the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). In particular, measuring the nuclear modification factor $R_{pA}$, where the particle production in pA is compared to a baseline proton-proton reference which is scaled to account for nuclear geometry, provides important insights to the modfication of nucleon structure functions in nuclei and a baseline for the observed strong suppression of hadron yields at high $p_{\rm T}$ in heavy-ion collisions. In this talk, neutral pion and $\eta$ meson invariant differential yields and nuclear modification factors at midrapidity are presented with a $p_{\rm T}$ reach beyond 100 GeV/$c$ and up to $40$ GeV/$c$, respectively, and compared to theoretical model calculations. Quarkonium Production in pp and p+Pb Collisions with ATLAS at the LHC / Hu, Qipeng (University of Science and Technology of China)
The suppression of heavy quarkonium states such as J/psi, psi(2S) and Upsilon(nS) in heavy-ion collisions, with respect to proton-proton collisions, plays an important role in studying the hot and dense medium formed in the larger collision systems. A full assessment of this suppression requires understanding of nuclear effects which may affect the production of quarkonium states even in the absence of the medium [...]

Photon-jet angular correlations in high energy proton-nucleus collisions: from low to high transverse momenta / Jalilian-Marian, Jamal (speaker) (Baruch College, CUNY)
We calculate the double differential cross section for production of a quark parton and a photon in proton-nucleus collisions using a newly proposed formalism which generalizes the Color Glass Condensate approach by including large x gluons of the target. We investigate transverse momentum, rapidity and A dependence of azimuthal angular correlations between the produced parton and the photon in different collision kinematics..

Pair production of quarkonia and electroweak bosons from double-parton scatterings in nuclear collisions at the LHC / d'Enterria, David (CERN) ; Snigirev, Alexander M. (SINP, Moscow)
Cross sections for the concurrent production of pairs of quarkonia (J/psi, Upsilon) and/or gauge bosons (W, Z) from double-parton scatterings (DPS) in high-energy proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC are calculated. The estimates are based on next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions, including nuclear modifications of the parton densities, for the corresponding single-scattering cross sections. [...]
