Towards the next generation of simplified Dark Matter models / Albert, Andreas (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Bauer, Martin (Heidelberg U.) ; Brooke, Jim (Bristol U.) ; Buchmueller, Oliver (Imperial Coll., London) ; Cerdeño, David G. (Durham U.) ; Citron, Matthew (Imperial Coll., London) ; Davies, Gavin (Imperial Coll., London) ; De Cosa, Annapaola (Zurich U.) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN ; Antwerp U.) ; De Simone, Andrea (INFN, Trieste) et al.
This White Paper is an input to the ongoing discussion about the extension and refinement of simplified Dark Matter (DM) models. Based on two concrete examples, we show how existing simplified DM models (SDMM) can be extended to provide a more accurate and comprehensive framework to interpret and characterise collider searches. Interplay and Characterization of Dark Matter Searches at Colliders and in Direct Detection Experiments / Malik, Sarah A. (Imperial Coll., London) ; McCabe, Christopher (Durham U., IPPP ; U. Amsterdam, GRAPPA) ; Araujo, Henrique (Imperial Coll., London) ; Belyaev, A. (Southampton U. ; Rutherford) ; Bœhm, Céline (Durham U., IPPP) ; Brooke, Jim (Bristol U.) ; Buchmueller, Oliver (Imperial Coll., London) ; Davies, Gavin (Imperial Coll., London) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN ; Antwerp U.) ; de Vries, Kees (Imperial Coll., London) et al.
In this White Paper we present and discuss a concrete proposal for the consistent interpretation of Dark Matter searches at colliders and in direct detection experiments. Based on a specific implementation of simplified models of vector and axial-vector mediator exchanges, this proposal demonstrates how the two search strategies can be compared on an equal footing..

(Birmingham U.) ; Bortoletto, D. (U. Oxford (main)) ; Bowcock, T. (U. Liverpool (main)) ; Bridges, K. (U. Liverpool (main)) ; Bowden, W. (Teddington, Natl. Phys. We outline the experimental concept and key scientific capabilities of AION (Atom Interferometer Observatory and Network), a proposed UK-based experimental programme using cold strontium atoms to search for ultra-light dark matter, to explore gravitational waves in the mid-frequency range between the peak sensitivities of the LISA and LIGO/Virgo/ KAGRA/INDIGO/Einstein Telescope/Cosmic Explorer experiments, and to probe other frontiers in fundamental physics. AION would complement other planned searches for dark matter, as well as probe mergers involving intermediate mass black holes and explore early universe cosmology. [...]

We report the results of a global analysis of dark matter simplified models (DMSMs) with leptophobic mediator particles of spin one, considering the cases of both vector and axial-vector interactions with dark matter (DM) particles and quarks. We require the DMSMs to provide all the cosmological DM density indicated by Planck and other observations, and we impose the upper limits on spin-independent and -dependent scattering from direct DM search experiments. The electric dipole moment of the electron (eEDM) can be measured with high precision using heavy polar molecules. In this paper, we report on a series of new techniques that have improved the statistical sensitivity of the YbF eEDM experiment. [...]

Track reconstruction and analysis of particle interactions in short bent crystals / Rossi, R (CERN ; Imperial Coll., London) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) ; Pesaresi, M (Imperial Coll., London) ; Hall, G (Imperial Coll., London) ; Scandale, W (Imperial Coll., London ; INFN, Rome)
Measurements of the interaction of positively charged particles with bent crystals wereobtained by developing a new and consolidated analysis method, for the use of UA9 collaboration. The method was deployed to characterize crystals with a length of a few mm along the beamdirection and a bending angle in the order of 10 μrad to 100 μrad, typicallyexploited in the CERN accelerators. To assess their properties and quality, the crystals havebeen investigated in the Super Proton Synchrotron North Area with a beam of mixed hadrons at180 GeV. [...]

AEDGE: Atomic Experiment for Dark Matter and Gravity Exploration in Space / AEDGE Collaboration
We propose in this White Paper a concept for a space experiment using cold atoms to search for ultra-light dark matter, and to detect gravitational waves in the frequency range between the most sensitive ranges of LISA and the terrestrial LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA/INDIGO experiments. This interdisciplinary experiment, called Atomic Experiment for Dark Matter and Gravity Exploration (AEDGE), will also complement other planned searches for dark matter, and exploit synergies with other gravitational wave detectors. Physical theories that depend on many parameters or are tested against data from many different experiments pose unique challenges to statistical inference. Many models in particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology fall into one or both of these categories. [...]

Different mechanisms operate in various regions of the MSSM parameter space to bring the relic density of the lightest neutralino, neutralino_1, assumed here to be the LSP and thus the Dark Matter (DM) particle, into the range allowed by astrophysics and cosmology. These mechanisms include coannihilation with some nearly-degenerate next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) such as the lighter stau (stau_1), stop (stop_1) or chargino (chargino_1), resonant annihilation via direct-channel heavy Higgs bosons H/A, the light Higgs boson h or the Z boson, and enhanced annihilation via a larger Higgsino component of the LSP in the focus-point region.
