Light stops, blind spots, and isospin violation in the MSSM / Crivellin, Andreas (CERN ; U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.) ; Hoferichter, Martin (Darmstadt, Tech. Hochsch. ; Darmstadt, EMMI ; U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.) ; Procura, Massimiliano (Vienna U. ; U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.) ; Tunstall, Lewis C. (U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.)
In the framework of the MSSM, we examine several simplified models where only a few superpartners are light. This allows us to study WIMP--nucleus scattering in terms of a handful of MSSM parameters and thereby scrutinize their impact on dark matter direct-detection experiments. [...]

Centrality dependence of K+ produced in Pb+Pb collisions at 158 GeV per nucleon / NEWMASS Collaboration
The NA52 collaboration searches for a discontinuous behaviour of charged kaons produced in Pb+Pb collisions at 158 A GeV as a function of the impact parameter, which could reveal a hadron to quark-gluon plasma (QGP) phase transition. The K+ yield is found to grow proportional to the number of participating ('wounded') nucleons N, above N=100. [...]

Large charge at large N / Alvarez-Gaume, Luis (Stony Brook U., New York, SCGP ; CERN) ; Orlando, Domenico (INFN, Turin ; U. Bern, AEC) ; Reffert, Susanne (U. Bern, AEC)
We apply the large-charge expansion to O(N) vector models starting from first principles, focusing on the Wilson-Fisher point in three dimensions. We compute conformal dimensions at zero and finite temperature at fixed charge Q, concentrating on the regime $1 \ll N \ll Q$. [...]

Rare $b$ decays meet high-mass Drell-Yan / Greljo, Admir (Bern U. ; Basel U.) ; Salko, Jakub (Bern U. ; Basel U.) ; Smolkovič, Aleks (Bern U.) ; Stangl, Peter (Bern U. ; CERN)
Rare $b$ hadron decays are considered excellent probes of new semileptonic four-fermion interactions of microscopic origin. However, the same interactions also correct the high-mass Drell-Yan tails. [...]

NLL${'}$ resummation of jet mass / Balsiger, Marcel (U. Bern, AEC) ; Becher, Thomas (U. Bern, AEC) ; Shao, Ding Yu (CERN)
Starting from a factorization theorem in effective field theory, we present resummed results for two non-global observables: the invariant-mass distribution of jets and the energy distribution outside jets. Our results include the full next-to-leading-order corrections to the hard, jet and soft functions and are implemented in a parton-shower framework which generates the renormalization-group running in the effective theory. DsTau: Study of tau neutrino production with 400 GeV protons from the CERN-SPS / DsTau Collaboration
In the DsTau experiment at the CERN SPS, an independent and direct way to measure tau neutrino production following high energy proton interactions was proposed. As the main source of tau neutrinos is a decay of Ds mesons, produced in proton-nucleus interactions, the project aims at measuring a differential cross section of this reaction. [...]

Compensating strong coupling with large charge / Alvarez-Gaume, Luis (CERN ; SUNY, Stony Brook) ; Loukas, Orestis (U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.) ; Orlando, Domenico (U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.) ; Reffert, Susanne (U. Bern, AEC ; Bern U.)
We study some (conformal) field theories with global symmetries in the sector where the value of the global charge $Q$ is large. We find (as expected) that the low energy excitations of this sector are described by the general form of Goldstone's theorem in the non-relativistic regime. [...]

Dark stars at the Galactic centre - the main sequence / Scott, Pat (Stockholm U. ; Stockholm U., OKC) ; Fairbairn, Malcolm (CERN ; King's Coll. London) ; Edsjo, Joakim (Stockholm U. ; Stockholm U., OKC)
In regions of very high dark matter density such as the Galactic centre, the capture and annihilation of WIMP dark matter by stars has the potential to significantly alter their evolution. We describe the dark stellar evolution code DarkStars, and present a series of detailed grids of WIMP-influenced stellar models for main sequence stars. [...]

GeV-scale hot sterile neutrino oscillations: a numerical solution / Ghiglieri, J. (CERN) ; Laine, M. (Bern U. ; U. Bern, AEC)
The scenario of baryogenesis through GeV-scale sterile neutrino oscillations is governed by non-linear differential equations for the time evolution of a sterile neutrino density matrix and Standard Model lepton and baryon asymmetries. By employing up-to-date rate coefficients and a non-perturbatively estimated Chern-Simons diffusion rate, we present a numerical solution of this system, incorporating the full momentum and helicity dependences of the density matrix. No room to hide: implications of cosmic-ray upscattering for GeV-scale dark matter / Alvey, James (U. Amsterdam, GRAPPA) ; Bringmann, Torsten (Oslo U. ; CERN) ; Kolesova, Helena (Stavanger U.)
The irreducible upscattering of cold dark matter by cosmic rays opens up the intriguing possibility of detecting even light dark matter in conventional direct detection experiments or underground neutrino detectors. The mechanism also significantly enhances sensitivity to models with very large nuclear scattering rates, where the atmosphere and rock overburden efficiently stop standard non-relativistic dark matter particles before they could reach the detector.
