Report from Working Group 3 : Beyond the Standard Model physics at the HL-LHC and HE-LHC / Cid Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; D'Onofrio, Monica (Liverpool U.) ; Fox, Patrick J (Fermilab) ; Torre, Riccardo (CERN ; INFN, Genoa) ; Ulmer, Keith A (Colorado U.) ; Aboubrahim, Amin (Northeastern U.) ; Albert, Andreas (RWTH Aachen U.) ; Alimena, Juliette (Ohio State U., Columbus (main)) ; Allanach, Benjamin C (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Alpigiani, Cristiano (Washington U., Seattle) et al.
This is the third out of five chapters of the final report [1] of the Workshop on Physics at HL-LHC, and perspectives on HE-LHC [2]. It is devoted to the study of the potential, in the search for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics, of the High Luminosity (HL) phase of the LHC, defined as $3$ ab$^{-1}$ of data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV, and of a possible future upgrade, the High Energy (HE) LHC, defined as $15$ ab$^{-1}$ of data at a centre-of-mass energy of 27 TeV. Proton reconstruction with the CMS-TOTEM Precision Proton Spectrometer / CMS and TOTEM Collaboration
The Precision Proton Spectrometer (PPS) of the CMS and TOTEM experiments collected 107.7 fb$ ^{-1} $ in proton-proton (pp) collisions at the LHC at 13 TeV (Run 2). This paper describes the key features of the PPS alignment and optics calibrations, the proton reconstruction procedure, as well as the detector efficiency and the performance of the PPS simulation. Report from Working Group 2 : Higgs Physics at the HL-LHC and HE-LHC / Cepeda, M. (CERN ; Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Gori, S. (UC, Santa Cruz, Inst. Part. Phys.) ; Ilten, P. (Birmingham U.) ; Kado, M. (Orsay, LAL ; INFN, Rome ; Rome U.) ; Riva, F. (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Abdul Khalek, R. (Vrije U., Amsterdam ; Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Aboubrahim, A. (Northeastern U. (main)) ; Alimena, J. (Ohio State U., Columbus (main)) ; Alioli, S. (Milan Bicocca U.) ; Alves, A. (U. Sao Paulo (main)) et al.
The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments, was a success achieved with only a percent of the entire dataset foreseen for the LHC. It opened a landscape of possibilities in the study of Higgs boson properties, Electroweak Symmetry breaking and the Standard Model in general, as well as new avenues in probing new physics beyond the Standard Model. Nuclear charge radius of $^{26m}$Al and its implication for V$_{ud}$ in the quark-mixing matrix / Plattner, P. (CERN ; Innsbruck U. ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Wood, E. (Manchester U.) ; Cheal, B. (Liverpool U.) ; de Groote, R.P. (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Devlin, C.S. (Liverpool U.) et al.
Collinear laser spectroscopy was performed on the isomer of the aluminium isotope $^{26m}$Al. The measured isotope shift to $^{27}$Al in the $3s^{2}3p\;^{2}\!P^\circ_{3/2} \rightarrow 3s^{2}4s\;^{2}\!S_{1/2}$ atomic transition enabled the first experimental determination of the nuclear charge radius of $^{26m}$Al, resulting in $R_c$=\qty{3.130±.015}{\femto\meter}. Measurement of the associated production of a Higgs boson decaying into $b$-quarks with a vector boson at high transverse momentum in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
The associated production of a Higgs boson with a $W$ or $Z$ boson decaying into leptons and where the Higgs boson decays to a $b\bar{b}$ pair is measured in the high vector-boson transverse momentum regime, above 250 GeV, with the ATLAS detector. The analysed data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$, were collected in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider between 2015 and 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV.
