CERN-MEDICIS: A Unique Facility for the Production of Non-Conventional Radionuclides for the Medical Research / Duchemin, Charlotte (CERN) ; Barbero-Soto, Esther (CERN) ; Bernardes, Ana (CERN) ; Catherall, Richard (CERN) ; Chevallay, Eric (CERN) ; Cocolios, Thomas (Leuven U.) ; Dorsival, Alexandre (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin (CERN) ; Fernier, Pascal (CERN) ; Gilardoni, Simone (CERN) et al.
The MEDICIS facility is a unique facility located at CERN dedicated to the production of non-conventional radionuclides for research and development in imaging, diagnostics and radiation therapy. It exploits in a Class A work sector, a dedicated isotope separator beam line, a target irradiation station at the 1.4 GeV Proton Synchroton Booster (PSB) and receives activated targets from external institutes during CERN Long Shut-Downs. First laser ions at the CERN-MEDICIS facility / MEDICIS Collaboration
The CERN-MEDICIS facility aims to produce emerging medical radionuclides for the theranostics approach in nuclear medicine with mass separation of ion beams. To enhance the radioisotope yield and purity of collected samples, the resonance ionization laser ion source MELISSA was constructed, and provided the first laser ions at the facility in 2019. [...]

Quantification of radioisotopes produced in 1.4 GeV proton irradiated lead–bismuth eutectic targets / Choudhury, Dibyasree (Saha Inst.) ; Lahiri, Susanta (Saha Inst. ; HBNI, Mumbai) ; Naskar, Nabanita (Saha Inst.) ; Delonca, Melanie (CERN) ; Stora, Thierry (CERN) ; Ramos, Joao Pedro (CERN ; SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Aubert, Elodie (CERN) ; Dorsival, Alexandre (CERN) ; Vollaire, Joachim (CERN) ; Augusto, Ricardo (CERN ; Munich U. ; TRIUMF) et al.
Six cylindrical lead bismuth eutectic (LBE) targets having fixed diameter of 6 mm and varying lengths of 8–50 mm were irradiated with a 1.4 GeV proton beam at CERN-ISOLDE. Both short-lived ($5\hbox { h } {<}\hbox {T}_{1/2} {<}5\hbox { days}$) and long-lived ($\hbox {T}_{1/2} {>}5\hbox { days}$) radionuclides were identified by off-line $\gamma $-spectrometry and their activities at the end of bombardment (EOB) were determined. Chemical Purification of Terbium-155 from Pseudo-Isobaric Impurities in a Mass Separated Source Produced at CERN / Webster, Ben (Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab ; Surrey U.) ; Ivanov, Peter (Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab) ; Russell, Ben (Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab) ; Collins, Sean (Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab) ; Stora, Thierry (CERN) ; Ramos, Joao Pedro (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Köster, Ulli (Laue-Langevin Inst.) ; Robinson, Andrew Paul (Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab ; Manchester U.) ; Read, David (Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab ; Surrey U.)
Four terbium radioisotopes ($^{149, 152, 155, 161}$Tb) constitute a potential theranostic quartet for cancer treatment but require any derived radiopharmaceutical to be essentially free of impurities. Terbium-155 prepared by proton irradiation and on-line mass separation at the CERN-ISOLDE and CERN-MEDICIS facilities contains radioactive$^{139}$Ce$^{16}$O and also zinc or gold, depending on the catcher foil used. Development of a Proton-to-Neutron Converter for Radioisotope Production at ISAC-TRIUMF / Egoriti, Luca (TRIUMF ; British Columbia U., Chem. Dept.) ; Bricault, Pierre (TRIUMF) ; Day Goodacre, Thomas (TRIUMF) ; Delonca, Melanie (CERN) ; Dierckx, Marc (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Dos Santos Augusto, Ricardo Manuel (CERN ; Munich U.) ; Gottberg, Alexander (TRIUMF ; Victoria U.) ; Houngbo, Donald (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Popescu, Lucia (SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Ramos, Joao Pedro (CERN) et al.
At ISAC-TRIUMF, a 500 MeV proton beam is impinged upon “thick” targets to induce nuclear reactions to produce reaction products that are delivered as a Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) to experiments. Uranium carbide is among the most commonly used target materials which produces a vast radionuclide inventory coming from both spallation and fission-events. [...]
