Search for quantum black hole production in lepton+jet final states using proton--proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A search for quantum black holes in electron+jet and muon+jet invariant mass spectra is performed with 140 $fb^{-1}$ of data collected by the ATLAS detector in proton--proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The observed invariant mass spectrum of lepton+jet pairs is consistent with Standard Model expectations. [...]

Measurement of the inclusive $t\bar{t}$ production cross section in the lepton+jets channel in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector using support vector machines / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of the top quark pair-production cross section in the lepton+jets decay channel is presented. It is based on 4.6 fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV $pp$ collision data collected during 2011 by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. [...]

Measurement of the top-quark mass using a leptonic invariant mass in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13~\textrm{TeV}$ with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of the top-quark mass ($m_t$) in the $t\bar{t}\rightarrow~\textrm{lepton}+\textrm{jets}$ channel is presented, with an experimental technique which exploits semileptonic decays of $b$-hadrons produced in the top-quark decay chain. The distribution of the invariant mass $m_{\ell\mu}$ of the lepton, $\ell$ (with $\ell=e,\mu$), from the $W$-boson decay and the muon, $\mu$, originating from the $b$-hadron decay is reconstructed, and a binned-template profile likelihood fit is performed to extract $m_t$. A standard convention for particle-level Monte Carlo event-variation weights / Bothmann, Enrico (Gottingen U.) ; Buckley, Andy (Glasgow U.) ; Gütschow, Christian (University Coll. London) ; Prestel, Stefan (Lund U.) ; Schönherr, Marek (Durham U., IPPP) ; Skands, Peter (Monash U.) ; Andersen, Jeppe R. Streams of event weights in particle-level Monte Carlo event generators are a convenient and immensely CPU-efficient approach to express systematic uncertainties in phenomenology calculations, providing systematic variations on the nominal prediction within a single event sample. But the lack of a common standard for labelling these variation streams across different tools has proven to be a major limitation for event-processing tools and analysers alike. [...]

Measurements of jet observables sensitive to $b$-quark fragmentation in $t\bar{t}$ events at the LHC with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Several observables sensitive to the fragmentation of $b$-quarks into $b$-hadrons are measured using 36 fb${}^{-1}$ of $\sqrt s = 13$ TeV proton--proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Jets containing $b$-hadrons are obtained from a sample of dileptonic $t\bar{t}$ events, and the associated set of charged-particle tracks is separated into those from the primary $pp$ interaction vertex and those from the displaced $b$-decay secondary vertex. Two-particle Bose–Einstein correlations in ${ pp }$ collisions at $\mathbf {\sqrt{s} = 13}$ TeV measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC / ATLAS Collaboration
This paper presents studies of Bose-Einstein correlations (BEC) in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using data from the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Data were collected in a special low-luminosity configuration with a minimum-bias trigger and a high-multiplicity track trigger, accumulating integrated luminosities of 151 $\mu$b$^{-1}$ and 8.4 nb$^{-1}$ respectively. Logarithmic accuracy of angular-ordered parton showers / Bewick, Gavin (Durham U., IPPP) ; Ferrario Ravasio, Silvia (Durham U., IPPP) ; Richardson, Peter (Durham U., IPPP ; CERN) ; Seymour, Michael H. (Manchester U.)
We study the logarithmic accuracy of angular-ordered parton showers by considering the singular limits of multiple emission matrix elements. This allows us to consider different choices for the evolution variable and propose a new choice which has both the correct logarithmic behaviour and improved performance away from the singular regions. [...]

Initial State Radiation in the Herwig 7 Angular-Ordered Parton Shower / Bewick, Gavin (Durham U., IPPP) ; Ferrario Ravasio, Silvia  (Durham U., IPPP ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Richardson, Peter (Durham U., IPPP ; CERN) ; Seymour, Michael H. (Manchester U.)
We study the simulation of initial-state radiation in angular-ordered parton showers in order to investigate how different interpretations of the ordering variable affect the logarithmic accuracy of such showers. This also enables us to implement a recoil scheme which is consistent between final-state and initial-state radiation. [...]
