50 Years of Quantum Chromodynamics / Gross, Franz (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Klempt, Eberhard (Bonn U., HISKP) ; Brodsky, Stanley J. (SLAC) ; Buras, Andrzej J. (TUM-IAS, Munich) ; Burkert, Volker D. (Jefferson Lab) ; Heinrich, Gudrun (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP) ; Jakobs, Karl (Freiburg U.) ; Meyer, Curtis A. (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Orginos, Kostas (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Strickland, Michael (Kent State U.) et al.
This paper presents a comprehensive review of both the theory and experimental successes of Quantum Chromodynamics, starting with its emergence as a well defined theory in 1972-73 and following developments and results up to the present day. Topics include a review of the earliest theoretical and experimental foundations; the fundamental constants of QCD; an introductory discussion of lattice QCD, the only known method for obtaining exact predictions from QCD; methods for approximating QCD, with special focus on effective field theories; QCD under extreme conditions; measurements and predictions of meson and baryon states; a special discussion of the structure of the nucleon; techniques for study of QCD at high energy, including treatment of jets and showers; measurements at colliders; weak decays and quark mixing; and a section on the future, which discusses new experimental facilities or upgrades currently funded. Double parton distributions in the pion from lattice QCD / Bali, Gunnar S. (Regensburg U. ; TIFR, Mumbai, Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Castagnini, Luca (Regensburg U.) ; Diehl, Markus (Hamburg U. ; DESY) ; Gaunt, Jonathan R. (CERN) ; Gläßle, Benjamin (Tubingen U.) ; Schäfer, Andreas (Regensburg U.) ; Zimmermann, Christian (Regensburg U.)
We perform a lattice study of double parton distributions in the pion, using the relationship between their Mellin moments and pion matrix elements of two local currents. A good statistical signal is obtained for almost all relevant Wick contractions. [...]

Two-loop splitting in double parton distributions / Diehl, Markus (DESY) ; Gaunt, Jonathan R. (CERN) ; Plößl, Peter (Regensburg U.) ; Schäfer, Andreas (Regensburg U.)
Double parton distributions (DPDs) receive a short-distance contribution from a single parton splitting to yield the two observed partons. We investigate this mechanism at next-to-leading order (NLO) in perturbation theory. [...]

Two-current correlations in the pion on the lattice / Bali, Gunnar S. (Regensburg U. ; TIFR, Mumbai, Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Bruns, Peter C. (Rez, Nucl. Phys. Inst.) ; Castagnini, Luca (Regensburg U.) ; Diehl, Markus (Hamburg U. ; DESY) ; Gaunt, Jonathan R. (CERN) ; Gläßle, Benjamin (Tubingen U.) ; Schäfer, Andreas (Regensburg U.) ; Sternbeck, André (Jena U.) ; Zimmermann, Christian (Regensburg U.)
We perform a systematic study of the correlation functions of two quark currents in a pion using lattice QCD. We obtain good signals for all but one of the relevant Wick contractions of quark fields. [...]

Threshold resummation for polarized high-$p_T$ hadron production at COMPASS / Uebler, Claudia (Regensburg U.) ; Schäfer, Andreas (Regensburg U.) ; Vogelsang, Werner (Tubingen U.)
We study the cross section for the photoproduction process g N ! hX where the incident photon and nucleon are longitudinally polarized and a hadron h is observed at high transverse momentum. Specifically, we address the “direct” part of the cross section, for which the photon interacts in a pointlike way [...]

Shear Viscosity from Lattice QCD / Mages, Simon W (Regensburg U. ; CERN ; Utrecht U.) ; Borsányi, Szabolcs (Wuppertal U.) ; Fodor, Zoltán (Wuppertal U. ; Eotvos U. ; Regensburg U.) ; Schäfer, Andreas (Regensburg U.) ; Szabó, Kálmán (Wuppertal U. ; Julich, Forschungszentrum ; Eotvos U.)
Understanding of the transport properties of the the quark-gluon plasma is becoming increasingly important to describe current measurements at heavy ion collisions. This work reports on recent efforts to determine the shear viscosity h in the deconfined phase from lattice QCD [...]

Thermodynamics of SU(N) Yang-Mills theories in 2+1 dimensions II. The Deconfined phase / Caselle, Michele (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Castagnini, Luca (Regensburg U.) ; Feo, Alessandra (Parma U.) ; Gliozzi, Ferdinando (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; Gursoy, Umut (CERN) ; Panero, Marco (Helsinki Inst. of Phys. ; Helsinki U.) ; Schafer, Andreas (Regensburg U.)
We present a non-perturbative study of the equation of state in the deconfined phase of Yang-Mills theories in D=2+1 dimensions. We introduce a holographic model, based on the improved holographic QCD model, from which we derive a non-trivial relation between the order of the deconfinement phase transition and the behavior of the trace of the energy-momentum tensor as a function of the temperature T.
