Studies of Longitudinal Beam Losses at LHC Injection / Medina Medrano, Luis (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Timko, Helga (CERN)
Due to higher beam intensities, the required rf power in the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) era is expected to be at the limit of the available rf power. To mitigate potential limitations of the rf system, the injection voltage can be reduced at the expense of beam losses. [...]

Cavity Control Modelling for SPS-to-LHC Beam Transfer Studies / Medina Medrano, Luis (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN) ; Baudrenghien, Philippe (CERN) ; Timko, Helga (CERN)
To accurately simulate injection losses in the LHC and the High-Luminosity LHC era, a realistic beam distribution model at SPS extraction is needed. To achieve this, the beam-loading compensation by the SPS cavity controller has to be included, as it modulates the bunch positions with respect to the rf buckets. [...]

Assessment of Linear and Non-Linear Optics Errors due to Beam-Beam with Multipoles for the High Luminosity LHC / Medina Medrano, Luis (Guanajuato U. ; CERN) ; Barranco García, Javier (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Tomás, Rogelio (CERN)
Study of the head-on and long-range beam-beam effects in the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) is of interest to evaluate their potential impact on performance (in the form of luminosity imbalance) and machine operation (collimator system), and, depending on their magnitude, correction schemes might be necessary to minimize them. In this work, both the β-beating at zero amplitude and its amplitude-dependence are computed for the current HL-LHC baseline optics and parameters, as well as the amplitude detuning, at the main interaction points and collimators.
