Building a 12GHz Traveling Wave Accelerating Structure Brazed Through Irises / Dolgashev, Valery (SLAC) ; Bowden, Gordon (SLAC) ; Dal Forno, Massimo (SLAC) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Haase, Andrew (SLAC) ; Zha, Hao (Tsinghua U., Beijing)
Accelerating structures are usually manufactured by precision turning of individual cells combined with precision milling for complex parts such as rf power couplers. These multiple parts are staked and brazed into a complete structure. [...]

Design, fabrication, and high-gradient testing of an $X$-band, traveling-wave accelerating structure milled from copper halves / Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN) ; Catalan-Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Mcmonagle, Gerard (CERN) ; Rodriguez-Castro, Enrique (CERN) ; Syrachev, Igor (CERN) ; Wegner, Rolf (CERN) ; Woolley, Ben (CERN) ; Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Zha, Hao (CERN) et al.
A prototype 11.994 GHz, traveling-wave accelerating structure for the Compact Linear Collider has been built, using the novel technique of assembling the structure from milled halves. The use of milled halves has many advantages when compared to a structure made from individual disks. [...]

Fabrication and high-gradient testing of an accelerating structure made from milled halves / Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Bowden, Gordon (SLAC) ; Catalán Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) ; Dolgashev, Valery (SLAC) ; Esperante Pereira, Daniel (Valencia U., IFIC ; CERN) ; Giansiracusa, Paul (Melbourne U.) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Haase, Andrew (SLAC) et al.
Accelerating structures made from parts which follow symmetry planes offer many potential advantages over traditional disk-based structures: more options for joining (from bonding to welding), following this more options for material state (heat treated or not) and potentially lower cost since structures can be made from fewer parts. An X-band structure made from milled halves, and with a standard benchmarked CLIC test structure design has been fabricated and high-gradient tested above 95 MV/m..

Results from the CLIC X-BAND structure test program at the NLCTA / Adolphsen, Chris (SLAC) ; Bowden, Gordon (SLAC) ; Dolgashev, Valery (SLAC) ; Laurent, Lisa (SLAC) ; Tantawi, Sami (SLAC) ; Wang, Faya (SLAC) ; Wang, W Juwen (SLAC) ; Doebert, Steffen (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Riddone, Germana (CERN) et al.
As part of a SLAC-CERN-KEK collaboration on high gradient X-band structure research, several prototype structures for the CLIC linear collider study have been tested using two of the high power (300 MW) X-band rf stations in the NLCTA facility at SLAC. These structures differ in terms of their manufacturing (brazed disks and clamped quadrants), gradient profile (amount by which the gradient increases along the structure which optimizes efficiency and maximizes sustainable gradient) and HOM damping (use of slots or waveguides to rapidly dissipate dipole mode energy).
