A rapid method for prediction of the non-resonant ultra-fast multipactor regime in high gradient RF accelerating structures / González-Iglesias, Daniel (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Gimeno, Benito (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Esperante, Daniel (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Martinez-Reviriego, Pablo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Martín-Luna, Pablo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Pedraza, Laura Karina (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Fernández, Juan Carlos (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Fuster-Martínez, Nuria (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Martínez, Eduardo (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Boronat, Marçà (Valencia U., IFIC) et al.
The purpose of this work is to present an analytical method that allows to estimate in an approximate and fast way the presence of the non-resonant and ultra-fast multipactor effect in RF accelerating structures in the presence of high gradient electromagnetic fields. This single-surface multipactor regime, which has been little studied in the scientific literature, is characterised by appearing only under conditions of very strong RF electric fields (of the order of tens or hundreds of MV/m), where it is predominant over other types of single- or dual-surface resonance described in classical multipactor theory. Commissioning of X-LAB: a very high-capacity X-band RF test stand facility at the University of Melbourne / Volpi, Matteo (Melbourne U.) ; Giansiracusa, P J (Melbourne U.) ; Sheehy, S L (Melbourne U. ; ANSTO, Menai) ; Williams, S D (Melbourne U.) ; Rassool, R P (Melbourne U.) ; Taylor, G (Melbourne U.) ; Pushkarna, P (Melbourne U.) ; Dowd, R T (ANSTO, Menai) ; Zingre, K (ANSTO, Menai) ; Boronat, M (CERN) et al.
The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) beam-based acceleration baseline uses high-gradient travelling wave accelerating structures at a frequency of 12 GHz. In order to prove the performance of these structures at high peak power and short pulse width RF, two klystron-based test facilities will been put in operation this year. [...]

First Operation of a Klystron Fitted with a Superconducting MgB₂ Solenoid / Catalán Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) ; Baig, Anisullah (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. As part of the effort to reduce the energy consumption of large research facilities using accelerators, high efficiency klystrons are being developed by CERN. However, a large fraction of the wall-plug power required to operate these klystrons is used in the focusing magnetic elements around the klystron in the form of normal conducting solenoids. [...]

High-Power Testing Results of X-Band RF-Window and 45 Degrees Spiral Load / Boronat, Marça (CERN) ; Bursali, Hikmet (CERN) ; Catalán Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; McMonagle, Gerard (CERN) ; Syratchev, Igor (CERN)
The X-Band test facilities at CERN have been running for some years now qualifying CLIC structure prototypes, but also developing and testing high power general-purpose X-Band components, used in a wide range of applications. Driven by operational needs, several components have been redesigned and tested aiming to optimize the reliability and the compactness of the full system and therefore enhancing the accessibility of this technology inside and outside CERN. High-Gradient Breakdown Studies of an X-Band Accelerating Structure Operated in the Reversed Taper Direction / Wu, Xiaowei (CERN) ; Boronat Arévalo, Marçà Josep (CERN) ; Castilla, Alejandro (CERN) ; Catalán Lasheras, Núria (CERN) ; Edwards, Amelia V (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; McMonagle, Gerard (CERN) ; Millar, William L (CERN) ; Syratchev, Igor (CERN) ; Wuensch, Walter (CERN)
The results of high-gradient tests of a tapered X-band traveling-wave accelerator structure powered in reversed direction are presented. Powering the tapered structure from the small aperture, normally output, at the end of the structure provides unique conditions for the study of gradient limits. [...]

Explainable Machine Learning for Breakdown Prediction in High Gradient RF Cavities / Obermair, Christoph (CERN ; Graz U.) ; Cartier-Michaud, Thomas (CERN) ; Apollonio, Andrea (CERN) ; Millar, William (CERN) ; Felsberger, Lukas (CERN) ; Fischl, Lorenz (CERN) ; Bovbjerg, Holger Severin (CERN) ; Wollmann, Daniel (CERN) ; Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Catalan-Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) et al.
The occurrence of vacuum arcs or radio frequency (rf) breakdowns is one of the most prevalent factors limiting the high-gradient performance of normal conducting rf cavities in particle accelerators. In this paper, we search for the existence of previously unrecognized features related to the incidence of rf breakdowns by applying a machine learning strategy to high-gradient cavity data from CERN's test stand for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC). In this letter, the potential of linear e+e− colliders to measure the top quark mass in a suitable short-distance scheme in radiative events is evaluated. We present a calculation of the differential cross section for production of a top quark pair in association with an energetic photon from initial state radiation, as a function of the invariant mass of the tt ̄system [...]
