Award-winning travel storyteller. Sustainable tourism speaker and consultant.

It's an honor to be speaking at the upcoming World Community Tourism Summit aka GX India by Planeterra and G Adventures, alongside industry pioneers like Tony Wheeler (Lonely Planet), Meenu Vadera (Azad Foundation), Paras Loomba and Jaideep Bansal (GHE), and Aayusha Prasain (Community Homestay Network). A vast majority of my travels and storytelling over the past decade has focused on living with, travelling with, and learning from local communities, from Uzbekistan to Guatemala. Tourism - when done right - has the potential to not only create alternate livelihood opportunities, but also build resilience to the impacts of climate change. Excited for the talks and discussions at one of the only summits dedicated to community tourism. Our Cape Base team in South Africa lending a helping out at Soil For Life! 🌱 This community garden program grows food to support initiatives such as soup kitchens, child and youth care development centres, and school feeding schemes as well as teaches people how to grow their own gardens, improve their health and well-being, and nurture and protect the environment. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who dug deep and got their hands dirty for a great cause. 🙌💜

Job interviews are nerve-racking, we know all too well. To set you up for success Samantha Delutis, our Talent Partner for North America, shares expert tips and what you need to know about our interview process at G Adventures: 😎 Do you think outside the box? We learned a long time ago that sometimes it’s best to just get rid of the box altogether. Our interview process truly embodies this sentiment. This could include recording yourself answering some wild questions like, “What would you do if you won the lottery tomorrow?” Or visiting our Toronto office to check out our ball pit. Our interview process is truly one of a kind. Our only ask is that you embrace it! 🎤 Interviewing is a two way street and because of this we’ve created the Backstage Pass. We flip the script and let you interview us! Come prepared with questions to learn more about who we are and what it’s like to work for G Adventures. It’s a great way to ensure that we’re a fit for you. 💜 We’ll say it until we’re purple in the face, our core values are at the heart of everything we do! In order to get a sense of who you are and what matters most to you, we’ve designed the Personal Values activity. During your first meeting with us we’ll ask you to briefly touch upon the 5 values you selected as most important to you. There are no right or wrong answers, so don’t fall into the trap of trying to guess if there are certain values we’re looking for. Rather, it’s the conversation that comes from your selections that matters. Ready to take your career to the next level? How important is company culture? 🤔 At G Adventures, we believe it’s absolutely essential! Our company culture goes beyond just showing up to work; it’s about fostering a sense of fun and connection among our team with the goal to make every day enjoyable and rewarding. In his monthly column for Travelweek, David Green highlights how he hosted Team Canada in Toronto to formulate their plans for the new fiscal year, and of course mixed in some fun along the way. “This year we went to a joint painting session, which was an awesome creative outlet. We also tried our hand at pasta making and attended the P!NK: Summer Carnival 2024 concert to let our hair down (for those of us who have hair!). These fun events brought out our creativity, and allowed us to open up our thinking to how we can engage more with our travel agent community." Read more. ⬇️

Exploring Morocco with Geluxe: Adventure at its finest In early July, in partnership with Flight Centre Aus, I had the privilege of hosting a group of Australian and Kiwi content creators through Morocco to experience our newest travel style at G Adventures - Geluxe. Geluxe is crafted for the active traveler who enjoys some comfort without losing the essence of authentic, community-focused travel. While we stayed in some pretty incredible accommodations, the heart of the experience remained rooted in supporting local communities. We shared meals and tea in the homes of local families, stayed in locally owned hotels, and shopped from artisans, ensuring that our spending stayed within the Moroccan economy, directly benefiting the people we met along the way. Geluxe is proof that you can travel in comfort without compromising on community engagement. Choosing highlights from this tour is no easy task, but here are a few unforgettable moments: 1. Chefchaouen (The Blue City) – A photographer’s dream. 2. The Roman Ruins of Volubilis – with an incredible local guide, it was fascinating. 3. Visiting AFER (our Planeterra project) – A delicious meal at a restaurant funding education and training for Moroccan women facing challenges like domestic violence and divorce. 4. Fez Medina – One of my favourite travel days, wandering and browsing the vibrant markets. 5. Hiking past the Imsefrane Cathedral and arriving to a delicious lunch under a beautiful walnut tree with a surprise musical performance 6. The Sahara Desert at Sunset – Need I say more? 7. Glamping in the Sahara – Waking up to endless dunes was a memory I’ll cherish forever 8. Marrakesh – I’ll be back, with more luggage space next time 😂 9. The awesome group of people that I got to share this experience is - friends for life! 10. Our Incredible CEO/Tour Guide, Omar – Who brought Morocco to life for us. If you’re curious about Geluxe or want to learn more, feel free to reach out to your local GPS or drop me a message!

In February, G Adventures' Account Manager Jen Watson travelled to the Galápagos and when on Floreana Island for her G for Good Moment, she sent a letter to herself via the famous Galápagos Post Office. 🏝️🐢 Recently her letter was hand delivered to her at her home in Scotland by New Zealander Jonny Beardmore! Jonny, also known as the Galápagos Postman, is on a mission to deliver 50 letters all over the world to raise money for Motor Neuron Diseases (MND). "My inspiration for this endeavour comes from my father, Eric. He battled MND for over 8 years until he passed away in 2022. Through this project, I aim to reconnect people through the written word, emphasising the personal touch that letters provide. But there’s more: I want to highlight the loss of mobility and freedom of movement that my father and other MND sufferers experience—a reminder that we should never take these abilities for granted.” Read more. ⬇️
