Ovaj genski proizvod pripada SCAMP porodici proteina koji su membranski proteini sekretornih nosača. Funkcioniraju kao nosači na površini ćelije u putevima reciklaže poslije obrade u Golgijevom aparatu . Različiti članovi porodice su visoko srodni proizvodima različitih gena i obično se eksprimiraju zajedno. Ovi nalazi sugeriraju da SCAMP-ovi mogu funkcionirati na istom mjestu tokom transporta vezikula , a ne u različitim putevima. Za ovaj gen su pronađene dvije varijante transkripta koje kodiraju različite izoforme .[ 7]
