Small at 173cm and 73kg, Hawthorn’s Len Pabst would almost certainly have played in excess of 100 VFL games were it not for the intervention of war. As it was he made 94 senior appearances and kicked 12 goals for the Mayblooms between 1939 and 1941 and from 1944 to 1948. Most of his football was played as a wingman.
