A useful utility from Blackburn, Ian Scrimshaw was occasionally capable of having a big impact on games. He made 19 appearances and scored 20 goals for Hawthorn in 1974-5 and then crossed to Richmond. In 1980 he played in the Tigers’ qualifying final and semi final wins only to suffer the immense disappointment of being dropped for the grand final, which Richmond also won. In 1981 he played mostly reserves football, and won the club’s best and fairest award for that grade. He headed west in 1982 and joined East Perth for whom he played the last five games of his senior career, kicking six goals.
