From Tallygaroopna, Bill Ford struggled to make an impression at Richmond where he managed just a single appearance, and one goal, in 1927. A ruckman and forward, he returned to Tallygaroopna in 1928 and then spent the ensuing five seasons playing for Sandhurst. In 1934 he returned for a second stab at VFL football, this time with Hawthorn, where he settled well and made a telling contribution over four seasons and 56 games, which netted him 38 goals.
Ford’s last port of call was VFA side Camberwell for whom he played 40 games and kicked 35 goals from 1938 to 1940.
