After failing to make the grade at Carlton, where he managed just one senior appearance in 1926, Albert ‘Jack’ Williamson commenced a second, ultimately more successful stab at league football in 1929 with Essendon. A big, burly defender, he won the Dons’ best first year player award in his debut season and when he left for Camberwell in 1934 he had played 60 senior VFL games and scored six goals. He added five appearances with the Tricolours.
